Mechanism of action

Pirogenal is a lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in phosphate-buffered saline, isolated from Salmonella typhi cells.

Pirogenal is a broad-spectrum immunomodulator, of which the main ones are activation of the reticuloendothelial, hypothalamic-pituitary and fibrinolytic systems.

Pyrogenic has adjuvant, desensitizing and anti-inflammatory properties, increases the general and specific resistance of the organism, affects the hypothalamus thermoregulatory centers.

Pirogenal influences many organs and systems, which predetermined a wide range of its use as a nonspecific agent in the treatment of various diseases in surgical, neurosurgical, urological, gynecological, eye, skin and venereal, therapeutic, psychiatric practice, in pediatrics.

Indications and usage

The drug is prescribed for non-specific therapy:
- With traumatic injuries of the central and peripheral nervous system.
- With torpid-current form of tuberculosis in the phase of resorption.
- In chronic liver diseases.
- With strictures of the urethra and ureters. With chronic prostatitis and urethritis.
- With uveitis.
- When iridocyclitis.
- When a herpes virus infection of the eye.
- When corneal opacity.
- In inflammatory processes of the uterus.
- Infertility.
- With adhesive disease of the abdominal cavity.
- With a burn disease.
- With sexually transmitted diseases.
- With psoriasis and other chronic skin diseases.

Contraindications

- Acute febrile diseases.
- Chronic diseases in the stage of exacerbation and decompensation, with the exception of diseases that are indications for the appointment of Pirogenal.
- Diseases of the blood.
- Pregnancy.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Contraindicated in pregnancy.

Dosage and administration

Apply intramuscularly once a day. Injections are made every other day. If necessary, diluted with 0.9% sodium chloride solution for injection. The preparation in the opened ampoule is not subject to storage.

Initial single dose - 2.5 mcg. In the following days, the injection dose is gradually increased by 2.5-5 μg. The maximum single dose - 100 mg. Full course from 10 to 30 injections. If necessary, the injection courses are repeated no less than 2-3 months.

When appointing pyrogenic for pyrotherapy, the drug is administered intramuscularly once a day, starting with 5-10 μg, with a gradual increase in dose to 100-150 μg. Injections are made after one or two days as prescribed by a doctor. On prescription, it is also possible to use combined intramuscular injections with suppositories.

People suffering from chronic diseases of the cardiovascular system, kidney and diabetes, treatment should be carried out under medical supervision.

In the presence of convulsive readiness or febrile convulsions in the history of the drug or not prescribed, or prescribed under the guise of anticonvulsant therapy.
