Mechanism of action

Pirogenal is a lipopolysaccharide formed in the process of vital activity of microorganisms Рseudomonas aeruginosa and others. Light cream amorphous powder. Easily soluble in water. Solutions are colorless, transparent. The drug has a pyrogenic effect.
The activity of the drug is determined by biological means and expressed in MTD (minimum pyrogenic dose).
1 MTD is the amount of a substance that, when intravenously administered to rabbits, causes an increase in body temperature of 0.6 ° C or more.
By the nature of the action has elements similar to prodiogizan. The effect of Pirogenal on immunological processes has not been studied enough, but it is possible that its action is also associated with interferonogenic activity.
With the introduction of pyrogenic, along with an increase in body temperature, leukopenia is observed, alternating with leukocytosis, an increase in tissue permeability, including the blood-brain barrier, suppression of the development of scar tissue, improvement of regenerative processes in the nervous tissue, etc.
The drug promotes better penetration of chemotherapeutic agents into the lesion.

Indications and usage

Pirogenal is used:
- to stimulate regenerative processes after injuries and diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system;
- for resorption of pathological scars, adhesions after burns, injuries, during adhesions in the abdominal cavity;
- in the complex therapy of patients with infectious diseases, especially when they are protracted, recurrent;
- With some allergic diseases (bronchial asthma);
- with psoriasis;
- with chronic diffuse streptoderma;
- with sclerotic processes in the bronchi;
- with epididymitis and prostatitis;
- with some resistant dermatoses (neurodermatitis, urticaria, etc.);
- chronic inflammatory diseases of the female genital organs;
- as an additional non-specific agent in the complex therapy of syphilis.

Dosage and administration

Enter intramuscularly 1 time per day. Injections produced every other day or at large intervals (2 - 3 days).
Doses must be selected individually. The initial dose is 25 - 50 MPD. Set the dose, causing an increase in body temperature to 37.5 - 38 'C, and enter it until the temperature rise stops, after which the dose is gradually increased by 25 - 50 MPD. Maximum single dose for adults 1000 MTD. The course of treatment consists of 10 - 30 injections; if necessary, repeat it. The break between courses should be at least 2 - 3 months.
In children the dose is reduced in accordance with age; begin with the introduction of 5 - 15 MTD, gradually increasing the dose, if necessary, but not exceeding 250 - 500 MTD. In the course of treatment 10 - 15 injections.

Contraindications

The drug should not be administered to patients with acute febrile illness and pregnant.

Adverse reactions

With an overdose of Pirogenal, individual patients may develop chills, fever, headache, vomiting, back pain. These reactions usually last 6 to 8 hours, after which the body temperature drops and the side effects disappear. In these cases, it is recommended to reduce the dose.

Special notes

Patients with hypertension and diabetes, the drug is prescribed in reduced doses, gently increasing them.
Young children and people over 60 years old need Pirogenal to be administered with caution, starting with reduced doses and gradually increasing them only if the patient is well tolerated.
