Indications drug Neipilept

- acute period of ischemic stroke (as part of complex therapy);
- recovery period of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes;
- traumatic brain injury, acute (as part of complex therapy) and the recovery period;
- cognitive and behavioral disorders in degenerative and vascular diseases of the brain.

Dosage and administration

Recommended dosing regimen Neipilept
Acute ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI): 1000 mg citicoline every 12 hours from the first day after diagnosis, treatment duration of at least 6 weeks.
The maximum daily dose is 2000 mg.
Recovery period for ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, recovery period for traumatic brain injury, cognitive and behavioral disorders in degenerative and vascular diseases of the brain
Introduce in / or in / m 500-2000 mg of citicoline per day. Dosage and duration of treatment with Neipilept depending on the severity of the symptoms of the disease.
Elderly patients
In the appointment of the drug Neipeilept elderly patients dose adjustment is not required.
Neipilept should be used immediately after opening the ampoule.
Neipilept is injected in / m, in / in the jet (slowly, over 3-5 minutes,depending on the prescribed dose) or drip (infusion rate - 40-60 drops per minute).
In / in the route of administration is preferable to the / m. When i / m injection should be repeated administration of the drug in the same place.
Neipilept is compatible with all types of IV isotonic solutions and dextrose solutions.

Side effect

Side effects are grouped by frequency of occurrence: very often (> 1/10), often (≥1 / 100 to <1/10), infrequently (≥1 / 1000 to <1/100), rarely (≥1 / 10000 to < 1/1000), very rarely (<1/10000), frequency not set.
Very rarely (including individual cases): allergic reactions (rash, pruritus, anaphylactic shock), headache, dizziness, feeling hot, tremor, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hallucinations, swelling, shortness of breath, insomnia, agitation, decreased appetite, numbness in paralyzed limbs, changes in liver enzyme activity. In some cases, citicoline can stimulate the parasympathetic system, as well as provide a short-term change in blood pressure.
If any of the side effects indicated in the instructions of the Neipilept preparation are aggravated or you have noticed any other side effects not indicated in the instructions of the Neipeile preparation, inform your doctor.

Contraindications to the use of the drug Neipilept

- Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug;
- Neipilept should not be prescribed to patients with severe vagotonia (high tone of the parasympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system);
- due to the lack of sufficient clinical data, it is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

There are insufficient data on the use of citicoline in pregnant women. Although no negative effects have been identified in animal studies, during pregnancy, citicoline is prescribed only in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
When using citicoline during lactation, women should stop breastfeeding, since data on the excretion of citicoline in breast milk are not available.

Use in children

The use of the drug Neipilept children and adolescents up to 18 years is contraindicated.

Special notes

In / in the jet Neipilept is introduced slowly (3-5 minutes depending on the dose). With IV drip infusion should be 40-60 drops per minute.
In case of persistent intracranial hemorrhage, it is recommended not to exceed a dose of the drug Neipilept 1000 mg / day, the drug is administered in / in a drip at a rate of 30 drops per minute.
Influence on ability to steer vehicles, mechanisms
During the use of the drug Neipilept caution should be exercised in the management of transport and in the occupation of other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration of attention and quickness of psychomotor reactions.

Overdosage

Given the low toxicity of the drug Neipelept cases of overdose are not described.

Drug interaction

Citicoline enhances the effects of levodopa.
