Description
Group
Lincomycin group antibiotics
Composition
Active ingredient: Clindamycin hydrochloride.
International non-proprietary name
Clindamycin
Synonyms
Dalatsin, Dalacin T, Dalacin C, Dalacin C phosphate, Klimitsin, Klimitsin T, Clindamycin, Clindafer, Clindacin, Clindovit
pharmachologic effect
The antibiotic of the group of lincosamides, is active against all strains of Propionibacterium acnes. After application to the skin, the amount of free fatty acids on the skin surface decreases from approximately 14% to 2%. It quickly accumulates in comedones, where it shows antibacterial activity. The average concentration of the antibiotic in the contents of comedones after the application of the solution significantly exceeds the minimum inhibitory concentration for all strains of Propionibacterium acnes, the causative agent of acne. After applying the solution in the blood plasma and urine to the skin, very low concentrations of the active substance are determined.
Indications for use
Used to treat acne (acne vulgaris).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or Lincomycin, as well as other components of the drug in history; Crohn's disease, ulcerative and pseudomembranous colitis (including a history).
Side effect
Usually well tolerated, however, when the local application of the solution may irritation (at the site of application), burning, itching, dry skin, erythema, peeling, increased sebum, contact dermatitis. With resorption, there is a likelihood of pseudomembranous enterocalitis.
Interaction
Simultaneous use with other drugs for the treatment of acne, containing exfoliating, emollient and abrasive substances (for example, benzoyl peroxide, tretinoin, resocinol, salicylic acid, sulfur) is not recommended because of the possible cumulative irritant effect on the skin. There is cross-resistance between the active substance and lincomycin. May enhance the action of muscle relaxants, disrupting neuromuscular transmission.
Dosing and Administration
Apply to the affected areas of clean, dry skin twice a day, morning and evening. Treatment is carried out before the development of an adequate response in the absence of side effects.
Overdose
Unlikely because of the peculiarities of the local drug.
special instructions
It should be taken with caution when prone to allergic reactions. Avoid contact with the mucous membrane of the eyes and mouth. In case of contact with sensitive surfaces (eyes, skin abrasions, mucous membranes), this area should be washed with plenty of cool water. With the development of diarrhea, the drug should be discontinued and, if necessary, carry out appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
Storage conditions
