Gastrointestinal: very rarely - a feeling of heaviness, a feeling of overflow and pressure in the area of epigastrium, nausea, constipation, diarrhea. When taking the drug, the feces are stained in a dark color, which is caused by the removal of non-absorbed iron and has no clinical significance.
The observed side effects were mostly mild and transient.
- excessive iron content in the body (for example, hemochromatosis);
- violations of iron utilization (for example, anemia caused by lead intoxication, sideroachrestic anemia);
- anemia not associated with iron deficiency (for example, hemolytic anemia, megaloblastic anemia caused by a lack of cyanocobalamin);
- hypersensitivity to the drug.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
In the course of controlled studies with the use of the drug in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy, there was no negative effect on the mother or fetus. No adverse effects on the fetus were detected when using the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Perhaps the use of indications and doses, taking into account the age of the patient. Children under the age of 12 in connection with the need to prescribe the drug in low doses, preferably used in the form of a syrup.
Chewable pills and syrup do not cause staining of tooth enamel.
When appointing Ferrum Lek ® patients with diabetes should consider that 1 tab. chewing and 1 ml of syrup contains 0.04 XE.
In cases of anemia caused by an infectious or malignant disease, iron accumulates in the reticulo-endothelial system, from which it is mobilized and utilized only after curing the underlying disease.
Taking the drug does not affect the results of fecal occult blood tests (selectively for hemoglobin).
Use in pediatrics
in connection with the need to prescribe the drug in low doses, preferably used in the form of a syrup.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms
Does not affect the ability to concentrate.
In cases of drug overdose Ferrum Lek® for oral administration, no signs of intoxication or signs of excessive iron intake have been described so far, since iron from the active substance is not present in the gastrointestinal tract in a free form and is not absorbed by passive diffusion.
No interaction with other drugs or food products has been noted.
Terms and conditions of storage
The drug should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature not higher than 25 ° C.
