Composition:

Pancreatin with minimal:
lipolytic activity - 3,500 IU Ph.Eur.
amylolytic activity - 4,200 IU Ph.Eur.
total proteolytic activity - 250 IU Ph.Eur.
Excipients:
Microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A),
colloidal silicon dioxide, Magnesium stearate.

Shell:
Talc, hypromellose, azorubic varnish (E 122), simethicone emulsion 30% (dry weight), polyacrylate dispersion 30% (dry weight), titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000.

Description: pink, flat-pills with a shell, with almost plane-parallel surfaces and beveled edges, with a characteristic smell of pancreatin.

Pharmacotherapeutic group: digestive enzyme agent

Pharmacological properties:

The drug compensates for the insufficiency of the exocrine function of the pancreas.
The enzymes lipase, amylase and protease, which are part of pancreatin, facilitate the digestion of fats, carbohydrates and proteins, which contributes to their more complete absorption in the small intestine.

Indications for use:

- Lack of exocrine pancreatic function,
(chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, etc.)
- Chronic inflammatory - dystrophic diseases of the stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder. Conditions after resection or irradiation of these organs, accompanied by impaired food digestion, flatulence, diarrhea (as part of combination therapy).
- To improve the digestion of food in patients with normal function of the gastrointestinal tract in case of errors in nutrition.
- Preparation for X-ray and ultrasound examination of the abdominal cavity organs.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug components, acute pancreatitis, exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis.

Dosage and administration:

The dose is determined individually depending on the degree of digestive disorders.
Adults: 1 - 2 pills before meals, without chewing and drinking water.
If necessary, in addition during the meal take another 1 to 4 tablets.
In children, the drug is prescribed by a doctor.
The duration of treatment can vary from several days (in case of disturbance of the digestive process due to errors in the diet) to several months or years (if necessary, constant replacement therapy).

Side effect:

Allergic reactions, diarrhea or constipation, nausea, epigastric discomfort. With prolonged use in high doses may develop hyperuricuricuria, an increase in the level of uric acid in the blood plasma.
In isolated cases, patients suffering from cystic fibrosis, the formation of strictures in the ileocecal region after receiving high doses.

Use during pregnancy:

The safety of using pancreatin during pregnancy has not been studied enough. Application is possible in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Interaction with other drugs:

With simultaneous use of pancreatin with iron preparations may decrease the absorption of the latter. The simultaneous use of antacid agents containing Calcium carbonate and / or magnesium hydroxide, can lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of pancreatin.
