Mechanism of action

SPAZMEX - a drug that reduces the tone of smooth muscles of the urinary tract.

Trospium chloride - Quaternary ammonium base, belongs to the group of anticholinergics. It is a competitive acetylcholine antagonist on smooth muscle postsynaptic membrane receptor receptors. It has a high affinity for m 1 - and m 2 - cholinergic receptors. Reduces the increased activity of the bladder detrusor. Trospia chloride has some ganglioblokiruyuschee, as well as myotropic effect (like papaverine). It has no central effect.

Indications and usage

Urinary incontinence, urge to urinate (with idiopathic hyperreactivity of the detrusor; with neurogenic hyperactivity (hyperreflexia) of the detrusor against multiple sclerosis, spinal injuries, congenital and acquired diseases of the spinal cord, strokes, parkinsonism).
Detrusor-sphincter-dysynergia on the background of intermittent catheterism.

Contraindications

Urinary retention

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Dosage and administration

The dosage regimen and the duration of treatment are set individually, depending on the clinical picture and the severity of the disease.

Adults and adolescents 14 years and older are prescribed orally 10 mg 3 times / day (daily dose 30 mg) or 15 mg 2-3 times / day (daily dose 30-45 mg). With a daily dose of 45 mg, it is possible to use 30 mg in the morning and 15 mg in the evening.
With neurogenic detrusor hyperactivity

When neurogenic hyperactivity of the detrusor is prescribed 15-20 mg 2 times / day in the morning and evening (daily dose of 30-40 mg).

The duration of treatment is, on average, 2-3 months.

After symptoms disappear, anti-relapse treatment is recommended for 2-4 weeks. If you need a longer treatment, the question of continuing therapy should be reviewed every 3-6 months.

Drug Interactions

With simultaneous use of trospia chloride enhances the anticholinergic effect of amantadine, tricyclic antidepressants, quinidine, antihistamine drugs, disopyramide, beta-adrenostimulyatory.

No interaction with drugs affecting the cytochrome P 450 isoenzyme system is expected, since no interaction of trospium chloride with CYP1A2, CYP2A6, CYP3C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP2E1, CYP3A4 isoenzymes involved in the splitting of drugs in the process of metabolism is found.
