Sunflower is probably one of the few crops that can rightfully be considered universal. Sunflower oil - the most important food product, as well as the main component in the production of drying oil. The marginal petals of sunflower inflorescences are the raw materials for the production of medicinal preparations. Sunflowers, especially decorative hybrids, are popular with florists and landscape designers. Even the stalks of a sunflower go into action - this is a high-calorie source of alternative fuel.
By and large, sunflower refers to crops that are strategically important for the economy, along with cereals and sugar beets. Therefore, the scale of industrial cultivation of sunflower is truly grand!
Every agronomist knows that sunflower is demanding on the potassium content in the soil solution, and this extracts the element from the soil in large quantities, and even from such compounds that are not "in the teeth" of other plants.
The root of a sunflower can be safely called the “heart of the plant,” since it is the root system that is entrusted with the key mission of providing nutrition to the whole organism. It is reasonable that the root of the sunflower interested researchers in terms of therapeutic use.
Contraindications in the treatment of sunflower root
Folk healers have developed a number of unique recipes using sunflower root, and, as practice has shown, their healing properties are truly great. However, the material presented in this article should not be taken as a guide to action. One of the Hippocratic postulates says: “Do no harm!”, Therefore, when deciding on the use of treatment for a particular remedy, you need to weigh all the pros and cons, and it is better to consult a specialist.
With regard to contraindications, those for the sunflower root was not detected. There is an opinion that it is necessary to refrain from treatment during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. Sunflower root does not contain a critical dose of oils and aromatic substances, therefore it can not harm during pregnancy, or cause allergies when breastfeeding. On the other hand, given the increase in diuresis, these recommendations can be considered quite reasonable.
Be sure to take into account when treating the nature of stones, as the root of the sunflower will not have a therapeutic effect, for example, in the presence of "stones" formed from compounds of phosphoric acid. Attempts to dissolve carbonates will also be useless.
There is another important contraindication - it is forbidden to use for the treatment of raw materials harvested from industrial plantations! It is no secret that industrial farming politely abuses "chemistry": herbicides, fungicides... Is it worth using raw materials that have undergone chemical treatment?
Important criteria for procurement of raw materials
You can purchase sunflower root online, but this is fraught with unpleasant consequences:
- First, since this raw material does not belong to pharmacopoeial species, then certification is not provided.
- Secondly, there is no guarantee that the roots harvested on the industrial plantation will not be sold to you, or that they will not slip the falsification.
However, it is easy to determine a fake, it is enough to pour boiling water over the raw material, and let it brew for 10-20 minutes. The infusion should acquire a characteristic light brown color and the smell of sunflower oil. Determination of the content of poisonous substances is possible only in laboratory conditions.
To protect yourself from unpleasant surprises, the ideal option is to allocate a plot on the plot of land for planting 20 to 50 copies of sunflower.
There is an opinion that it is necessary to harvest the roots after harvesting. This is wrong according to the logic of things: after the seeds mature, the root loses its healing properties, since its function has been exhausted at this stage. The most valuable raw materials harvested in the phase of "wax" ripeness, that is, until the seed coat has not acquired the hardness (but already painted). Therefore, if you need raw materials for treatment - forget about the harvest of seeds!
- The central root is unsuitable for treatment, and only the lateral processes are used. Land is recommended to shake off, but not flush.
- For drying, the roots must be split lengthwise into parts, 5-7 mm thick.
- It is recommended to dry raw materials naturally, without resorting to artificial heating. This is argued by the considerations that sunflower oil polymerizes when heated, causing an insoluble film to form, and the active ingredients lose their healing properties.
- It is recommended to keep the raw material in unground form, then the shelf life is up to 3 years. The crushed root is stored for no more than 1 year, since with the access of oxygen the same effect is observed as during drying with the use of thermal heating.
Diseases that can heal the root of the sunflower
The main use of the therapeutic properties of the sunflower root is the removal of salts from the body, that is, the destruction of insoluble compounds ("stones"). The active substances of the sunflower root contribute to the destruction of a number of conglomerates formed from compounds with organic acids - oxalic (oxalate), urinary (urate), cholesteric, etc. oxalates.
So, decoction of sunflower roots will help:
- Clear vessels from cholesterol plaques;
- Remove urates from the bladder;
- Crush the "stones" in the liver and kidneys;
- Remove cartilage tissue from joints from calculus.
When treating a sunflower root, there are a number of criteria:
- It is necessary to exclude from the diet sour juices, and use mostly clean water.
- Go to a vegetable diet, without using products containing large concentrations of organic acids (sorrel, pickles, etc.).
Practical recipes
Decoction. Prepared at the rate of: 1 cup of raw materials - 3 liters of water. Pre-grind the dried sunflower root into 1 cm pieces. Boil for 5 minutes after boiling. By the way, the raw material can be reused, up to 3 times, while the cooking time must be increased by 2 times (compared to the previous one). That is, 5 - 10 - 20 minutes.
The broth is prepared for three days to be taken daily for 1 liter of the drug in the bottom. Keep refrigerated; Preheat before use.
For the removal of salt deposits from the joints, it is recommended to combine internal reception with external wrapping (compresses). It is not bad to alternate compresses from sunflower root decoction with baths and applications from horsetail.
