Mechanism of action

Yohimbine is a dietary supplement that improves erectile function. Selectively blocks the central and peripheral presynaptic and postsynaptic (in large doses) alpha2-adrenoreceptors. It has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system. Increases sexual desire, increases erection, normalizes potency.

Indications and usage

Psychogenic impotence, functional impotence (accompanied by erectile dysfunction), atony of the bladder, menopause in men.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, hepatic and / or renal failure, arterial hypertension or hypotension, coronary heart disease, simultaneous adrenostimulants.
With caution - gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, mental illness.

Dosage and administration

Tablets of 1-2 pieces are taken orally during meals, without chewing and washing down with a glass of water 1-3 times a day. Duration of treatment is 3-10 weeks. After the break, a second course of treatment can be carried out, not earlier than after 10 weeks.

Special notes

The drug is not recommended to be combined with antidepressants and other agents that affect mood.

Drug Interactions

The simultaneous administration of clonidine is not shown, since the effects of the drugs are mutually neutralized. Yohimbine can change the activity of antihypertensive drugs, potentiate the effect of antidepressants and increase the risk of their side effects, reduce the activity of alprozalam. Klopyramine increases the level of yohimbine in the blood plasma.

Overdosage

Symptoms: general weakness, generalized paresthesia, impaired memory and motor coordination, headache, dizziness, tremor, tachycardia, arterial hypertension, fear, hallucinations, nausea, vomiting, mydriasis, saliva and tearing, increased sweating, increased noradrenaline levels in the blood plasma.
Treatment: antidote clonidine; administered orally at a starting dose of 0.1-0.2 mg, then again at one-hour intervals at a dose of 0.1 mg. Symptomatic treatment: antihypertensive drugs; Benzodiazepines are prescribed to eliminate the feeling of fear or hallucinations (you should not prescribe phenothiazine antipsychotics).
