Mechanism of action

BUDENOFALK - anti-inflammatory agent, has a membrane-stabilizing effect, reduces the release of inflammatory mediators (leukotrienes and prostaglandins) from mast cells, basophils and macrophages. It has a high affinity for specific glucocorticoid receptors, providing mainly local anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-exudative and anti-edema action.

Indications and usage

Crohn's disease involving ileal and / or ascending colon (for induction of remission in mild and moderate forms).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, gastrointestinal infections (bacterial, fungal, amoebic, viral), severe abnormal liver function, breastfeeding, children's age.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Possible only if the expected effect of therapy outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. At the time of treatment should stop breastfeeding.

Dosage and administration

Inside, without chewing (in violation of the act of swallowing, you can open the capsule and swallow all the microspheres) with a sufficient amount of liquid (a full glass of water) 30 minutes before meals, 3 mg 3 times a day (in the morning, at noon and in the evening).Course - 2-8 weeks.

Adverse reactions

From the nervous system and sensory organs: depression, euphoria, irritability, glaucoma, cataract.

From the side of cardiovascular system and blood system (blood formation, hemostasis): arterial hypertension, increased risk of blood clots, vasculitis.

On the part of the digestive tract: gastric discomfort, duodenal ulcers, pancreatitis.

From the endocrine organs: Cushing's syndrome, impaired function or atrophy of the adrenal cortex.

Musculoskeletal system: muscle weakness, osteoporosis, aseptic bone necrosis.

From the skin: allergic rash, red striae, petechiae, ecchymosis, steroid acne, impaired wound healing.

Other: increased risk of infectious diseases.

With extreme caution prescribed to patients with hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, tuberculosis, peptic ulcer, glaucoma, cataracts (requires special medical supervision). In the case of chickenpox and measles, treatment with appropriate immunoglobulins should be carried out and antivirals should be prescribed. It can suppress the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and reduce the response to stress.

Cytochrome P450 inhibitors (ketoconazole, troleandomycin, Erythromycin, cyclosporine) enhance the effect.Increases the action of cardiac glycosides (due to potassium deficiency); saluretics increase potassium excretion.
