Mechanism of action
The drug with antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating, antipruritic and regenerating effect.
The active ingredient of the drug is activated glycyrrhizinic acid, obtained by extraction from plant materials (licorice root). Activated glycyrrhizic acid has a complex action that includes antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating, antipruritic and regenerating. Immunostimulating effect is manifested by an increase in the number and activity of T-lymphocytes, a decrease in the concentration of immunoglobulin G and an increase in the concentration of immunoglobulins A and M.
Activated glycyrrhizic acid induces the formation of Interferon, which is one of the components of its antiviral action.
Activated glycyrrhizic acid active against DNA and RNA viruses (including Herpes simplex type 1 and 2 virus, Varicella zoster, cytomegalovirus, various types of human papillomavirus (including oncogenic /).
The mechanism of action of glycyrrhizic acid is that it interrupts the replication of viruses in the early stages, causes the virion to exit from the capsid, thereby preventing its penetration into the cells.
Activated glycyrrhizic acid inactivates viruses in concentrations non-toxic to normally functioning cells. Mutant virus strains resistant to Acyclovir and iodouridine are also highly sensitive to glycyrrhizic acid, as are non-mutant strains.
Anti-inflammatory activity of activated glycyrrhizic acid is combined with a stimulating effect on humoral and cellular immunity factors. Activated glycyrrhizic acid significantly inhibits the release of kinins and the synthesis of prostaglandins by connective tissue cells in the area of inflammation.
The regenerating effect is due to the improvement of the repair of the skin and mucous membranes.
When applied topically and locally, activated glycyrrhizic acid is deposited in the lesions. Systemic absorption is slow. In the blood, the active substance is detected in trace amounts.
Indications and usage
- treatment of human papillomavirus infection (including asymptomatic isolation of high-risk human papillomavirus);
- treatment of infection caused by the virus Herpes simplex type 1 and 2;
- treatment of infection caused by the virus Varicella zoster (as part of combination therapy);
- treatment of cytomegalovirus infection as part of a comprehensive and combination therapy;
- prevention of recurrence of infections caused by Herpes simplex type 1 and 2 viruses, Varicella zoster virus, human papillomavirus, cytomegalovirus;
- prevention and treatment of genital warts and cervical pathologies caused by the Herpes simplex type 1 and 2 virus, human papillomavirus, cytomegalovirus;
- prevention and treatment of conditions accompanied by a decrease in local immunity (including nonspecific colpitis, vulvovaginal candidiasis and bacterial vaginosis), as part of a comprehensive and combination therapy;
- discomfort in the genital area, accompanied by itching, burning and dryness (including after intercourse and with ovarian failure).
At outdoor use the drug is sprayed onto the affected surface from a distance of 4-5 cm by 1-2 presses of the spray valve, which is the optimal therapeutic dose.
At intravaginal application a specially attached tip should be used. Before use, remove the valve from the spray bottle and put on the nozzle valve. Then the nozzle is completely inserted into the vagina in the position of the patient lying on his back; the drug should be injected by 1-2 presses of the valve nozzle. After application, it is necessary to remain lying down for 5-10 minutes.
When used by men, in addition to external application, the drug is injected into the external opening of the urethra 1-2 by pressing the valves of the spray.
At skin infections caused by human papillomavirus The drug is recommended to be used before removal of warts 3 times / day forthe entire period of etiotropic therapy; on the background of destruction - 5 times / day for 10 days or more until healing; for the prevention of the next relapse - 3 times / day for 1 month.
For preventing the progression of human papillomavirus infection, It is recommended to use the drug before and after intercourse, as well as in the event of provoking factors: stress, fatigue, respiratory viral infections, disturbances of microflora, antibiotics, cytotoxic drugs. In this case Epigenes sex used 3 times / day intravaginally and externally for the entire period of action of provoking factors.
At Herpes simplex type 1 and 2 infections or Varicella zoster, Epigenes sex put on the lesion 6 times / day for 5 days. With a persistent course of the disease, therapy should be carried out until the symptoms of the disease completely disappear.
At genital herpes and cytomegalovirus infection the drug is recommended to be used 5 times a day for 14 days outwardly and intravaginally; after relief of recurrence, the drug is recommended to be used externally and intravaginally 3 times / day for 10 days.
WITH the purpose of relapse prevention genital herpes and cytomegalovirus infection the drug should be used externally and intravaginally from 18-20 days of the menstrual cycle until the end of menstruation 2 times a day in the morning and evening.
At non-specific vulvovaginitis, bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candidiasis The drug is recommended to be used intravaginally 3-4 times / day for 7-10 days. If necessary, the treatment can be repeated after 10 days. In the event of provoking factors (respiratory viral infections, antibiotics, cytotoxic drugs), the drug is prescribed 3 times / day intravaginally and externally for the entire period of action of the provoking factors.
At phenomena of discomfort in the genital region, accompanied by itching, burning and dry mucous membranes (including the lack of ovarian function and after intercourse), the drug is used 2 times / day (morning and evening) for 2-3 weeks. In order to prevent discomfort, apply regularly after intercourse.
As prophylactic antiviral agent The drug is recommended to use before and after sexual intercourse.
