Mechanism of action

MAGNE B6 FORTE - a drug that compensates for Magnesium deficiency.

Magnesium is a vital element that is found in all tissues of the body and is necessary for the normal functioning of cells, participates in most metabolic reactions. In particular, it is involved in the regulation of nerve impulse transmission and muscle contraction. 1/3 of the amount of magnesium contained in the body accumulates in the bone tissue.

The body gets magnesium with food. Lack of magnesium in the body can be observed in violation of the diet (diet) or with an increase in the need for magnesium.

Pyridoxine (vitamin B 6) is involved in many metabolic processes, in the regulation of the metabolism of the nervous system. It improves the absorption of magnesium from the gastrointestinal tract and its penetration into the cells.

Indications and usage

Established magnesium deficiency, isolated or associated with other deficient conditions, accompanied by such symptoms,as:
- Increased irritability.
- Minor sleep disorders.
- Gastrointestinal cramps.
- Cardiopalmus.
- Increased fatigue.
- Pain and muscle spasms.
- Tingling sensation in muscles.

If after a month of treatment there is no reduction of these symptoms, the continuation of treatment is inappropriate.

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
- Severe renal failure (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml / min).
- Phenylketonuria.
- Age up to 6 years (efficacy and safety have not been established).
- Hereditary galactosemia, malabsorption syndrome of glucose and galactose or lactase deficiency (due to the presence of lactose in the preparation).
- Simultaneous reception of levodopa.

With care: moderate renal failure (danger of developing hypermagnesia).

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

During pregnancy, the drug is taken only on the advice of a doctor.

Taking into account that magnesium penetrates into the mother's milk, if necessary, taking the drug is recommended to stop breastfeeding.

Dosage and administration

Tablets should be taken whole with a glass of water.

Adults: 3-4 pills per day, divided into 2-3 doses, with meals.
Children over the age of 6 years (weighing about 20 kg): 10-30 mg / kg / day (04-1.2 mmol / kg / day), that is, 2-4 pills per day, divided into 2-3 doses, while eating.

Usually the duration of treatment is 1 month.

Adverse reactions

Allergic reactions, including skin; disorders of the gastrointestinal tract: diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting, flatulence.

Special notes

Tablets are intended only for adults and children over 6 years. In moderate renal insufficiency, the drug should be taken with caution because of the risk of hypermagneemia. With simultaneous deficiency of Calcium and magnesium, magnesium deficiency should be replenished before additional calcium intake.

When using Pyridoxine in a high dose for a long time (for several months or in some cases years), sensory neuropathy may develop, which is accompanied by symptoms such as numbness and vestibular disorders, distal distal tremor and gradually developing sensory ataxia (coordination disorders). movements). These disorders are usually reversible and disappear after the abolition of high doses of vitamin B.

Drug Interactions

Contraindicated combinations with levodopa: the activity of levodopa (if the intake of this drug is not combined with the intake of peripheral dopedicarboxylase inhibitors) is inhibited by pyridoxine. Any use of pyridoxine should be avoided if inhibitors of peripheral dopa-decarboxylase are not prescribed at the same time as levodopa.

The simultaneous use of drugs containing phosphate or calcium salts, can significantly reduce the absorption of magnesium in the gastrointestinal tract.With phosphate or calcium salts: these products inhibit the intestinal absorption of magnesium.

When prescribing inside tetracyclines, it is necessary to observe the interval of at least 3 hours between ingestion of Tetracycline and magnesium, since magnesium reduces the gastrointestinal absorption of tetracyclines.

Overdosage

With normal kidney function, ingestion of magnesium does not cause toxic reactions. However, in the case of kidney failure, the development of magnesium poisoning is possible. The severity of symptoms of overdose depends on the concentration of magnesium in the blood.

Symptoms: decrease in blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, depression of the central nervous system, decrease in reflexes, changes on the electrocardiogram (reduction and / or disturbance of the rhythm of the center), respiratory depression, coma, cardiac arrest and respiratory paralysis, anuria.
Treatment: rehydration, forced diuresis. In renal insufficiency, hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis is necessary.
