Mechanism of action

GLUTAMINE ACID is an agent that improves brain metabolism. Replaceable amino acid, plays the role of a mediator with high metabolic activity in the brain, stimulates redox processes in the brain, protein metabolism. Normalizes metabolism, changing the functional state of the nervous and endocrine systems. Stimulates the transmission of excitation in the synapses of the central nervous system, helps to neutralize and remove ammonia from the body, increases the body's resistance to hypoxia.

It is one of the components of myofibrils, participates in the synthesis of other amino acids, acetylcholine, ATP, urea, helps to transfer and maintain the necessary concentration of potassium ions in the brain, serves as a link between the metabolism of carbohydrates and nucleic acids, normalizes the content of glycolysis indicators in the blood and tissues. It has a hepatoprotective effect, inhibits the secretory function of the stomach.

Indications and usage

In the complex therapy: epilepsy (mostly minor seizures with equivalents), schizophrenia,psychosis (somatogenic, intoxication, involutional), reactive depressive state, mental exhaustion, insomnia, effects of meningitis and encephalitis, depression, progressive myopathy; mental retardation of various etiologies, cerebral palsy, the effects of intracranial birth injury, polio (acute and recovery period), Down syndrome; toxic neuropathy with the use of isonicotinic acid hydrazides (including isoniazid).

Contraindications

Feverish conditions, hepatic and / or renal failure, inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis, anemia, irritability, violently flowing mental reactions, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, nephrotic syndrome, obesity, hypersensitivity to glutamic acid.

Dosage and administration

Adults - 1 g 2-3 times / day. Children under the age of 1 year old - 100 mg each, up to 2 years old - 150 mg each, 3-4 years old - 250 mg each, 5-6 years old - 40 mg each, 7-9 years old - 500 mg -1 g, 10 Years and older - 1 g 2-3 times / day. With oligophrenia - 100-200 mg / kg for several months. Is taken orally for 15-30 minutes before a meal, with the development of dyspeptic symptoms - during or after a meal. The course of treatment is from 1-2 to 6-12 months.

Adverse reactions

Possible: vomiting, diarrhea, agitation of the central nervous system, allergic reactions, abdominal pain, nausea, irritability.

With prolonged use: a decrease in hemoglobin, leukopenia, irritation of the oral mucosa, cracks in the lips.

Be wary when using diseases of the liver.

If side effects occur, a dose reduction is recommended.
