Mechanism of action

Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor. Inhibits the formation of angiotensin II and eliminates its vasoconstrictor effect on arterial and venous vessels. Reduces total peripheral vascular resistance, reduces afterload, reduces blood pressure. Reduces preload, reduces pressure in the right atrium and the pulmonary circulation. Indications and usage

  • arterial hypertension (including renovascular);

The dose of the drug is set individually in each case.
In the treatment of arterial hypertension the initial dose is 12.5 mg 2 times a day. If necessary, gradually increase the dose of the drug (with an interval of 2-4 weeks). In case of arterial hypertension of mild and moderate severity, the maintenance dose is 25 mg 2 times a day, maximum - 100 mg 2 times a day.In severe form of arterial hypertension, maintenance dose is 50-100 mg 2 times a day, maximum 150 mg 2 times a day.
In the treatment of chronic heart failure The initial dose is 6.25-12.5 mg 3 times a day. If necessary, under the supervision of a physician, the dose of the drug can be increased to 25 mg 3 times a day.
The drug is taken on an empty stomach, 1 hour before meals.

Adverse reactions

Drug Interactions

Diuretics enhance the hypotensive effect of Capoten.
Potassium-sparing diuretics with simultaneous appointment with Capoten contribute to the development of hyperkalemia.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may reduce the hypotensive effect of the drug.
There are reports of the development of neutropenia and Stevens-Johnson syndrome in patients taking Capoten in combination with Allopurinol.
A number of patients with diabetes who take insulin or oral hypoglycemic drugs simultaneously with Capoten observed hypoglycemia.
Probenecid reduces capoten's renal clearance.
