in vials of 5 ml (with dispensing device "Drop Tainer")
pharmachologic effect
Maxitrol has an antibacterial local, anti-inflammatory local effect.
Indications

condition after removal of a foreign body of the cornea;
purulent infection of the mucous membrane of the eye and eyelid caused by microorganisms resistant to the action of neomycin, purulent corneal ulcer.
Caution is prescribed for glaucoma, cataract.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Sufficient experience in the use of Maxitrol during pregnancy and lactation is not. It is possible to use for the treatment of pregnant women as prescribed by the attending physician, if the expected therapeutic effect exceeds the risk of possible side effects. It is necessary to interrupt the use of the drug for the period of breastfeeding.
Side effects
Local Allergic reaction, accompanied by itching and swelling of the eyelids, as well as conjunctival redness. Side effects caused by the steroid component: an increase in intraocular pressure with possible subsequent development of glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve and visual fields (using Maxitrol for more than 10 days requires monitoring of intraocular pressure); rear subcapsular cataract, slowing the healing process of wounds. Topical use of steroids for diseases that cause thinning of the cornea or sclera, can lead to their perforation.
Secondary infection:
The development of a secondary infection is observed after the use of combination drugs containing glucocorticosteroids in combination with antibiotics. With prolonged use of steroids may develop fungal infections of the cornea. The appearance of non-healing ulcers on the cornea after long-term treatment with steroid preparations may indicate the development of fungal invasion. Secondary bacterial infection may occur as a result of suppression of the protective reaction of the patient.
Dosage and administration
In the conjunctival sac.
In case of a mild infectious process - 1-2 drops of Maxitrol are instilled every 4-6 hours. In the case of the development of a severe infectious process, the drug is instilled every hour, as the symptoms of inflammation decrease, the frequency of drug instillations decreases. Before use, the bottle with drops should be shaken.
