The drug should be taken on an empty stomach (at least 1 h before a meal or 2 h after a meal) and should be washed down with a sufficient amount of liquid.
Adverse reactions
Gastrointestinal: nausea, anorexia, diarrhea; possibly transient increase in liver transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, LDH.
From the side of the central nervous system: headache, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, anxiety, irritability, fear, confusion, hallucinations, depression, tinnitus.
Musculoskeletal system: in some cases - tendonitis, tendon rupture.
From the laboratory indicators: may decrease hematocrit, eosinophilia, leukopenia, increasing the concentration of creatinine in plasma.
Allergic reactions: rarely - urticaria, rash, itching, anaphylactic shock.
With caution, the drug is prescribed to patients with epilepsy, seizures with a history of seizures, and severe renal impairment.
During the period of drug treatment, patients should receive a sufficient amount of fluid (under the control of diuresis).
An increase in prothrombin index was observed during therapy with Nolicin. During surgical interventions, the state of the blood coagulation system should be monitored.
During treatment with Nolicin, direct sunlight should be avoided.
When pains in the tendons or at the first signs of tendovaginitis appear, it is recommended to stop the drug.
Persistent diarrhea may be due to the development of pseudomembranous colitis, although it is rarely associated with therapy with norfloxacin.
Patients should avoid increased physical exertion during the period of treatment and immediately after completion of the course of treatment.
With simultaneous use of Nolicin with theophylline and cyclosporine, it is recommended to monitor plasma concentrations of the latter.
Antacids, sucralfate, iron or zinc should be taken 2 hours after taking Nolicin.
Milk and yoghurt reduce the absorption of norfloxacin, so the drug should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal containing milk or yogurt.
Use in pediatrics
The drug should not be prescribed to children and adolescents, since the experience of using Nolicin in this category of patients is absent and the possibility of damage to the articular cartilage during the growth period cannot be completely ruled out.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms
In connection with the possible occurrence of dizziness in patients taking Nolicin, caution should be exercised when driving a car and doing other potentially dangerous activities that require increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (especially while drinking alcohol).
Overdosage
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; in more severe cases - dizziness, fatigue, confusion, convulsions.
Treatment: gastric lavage, careful observation of the patient; conducting symptomatic therapy. It is necessary to ensure sufficient intake of fluid into the body while maintaining proper diuresis.
Drug Interactions
With simultaneous use of Nolicin with theophylline and cyclosporine, it is possible to increase the concentration of the latter in the blood plasma.
With the simultaneous use of Nolicin with Warfarin may increase the therapeutic effect of the latter.
With the simultaneous use of Nolicin and antacid agents, sucralfate, iron or zinc preparations, the absorption intensity of norfloxacin is reduced.
With the simultaneous use of quinolones and corticosteroids increases the risk of tendonitis and tendon rupture.
With simultaneous use of norfloxacin with hypoglycemic drugs derived from sulfonylurea, the hypoglycemic effect of the latter has been increased.
With simultaneous use of norfloxacin and nitrofurantoin, the effects of both drugs are reduced.
Storage conditions
The preparation should be stored in a place protected from light and moisture at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
- 5 years.
