Composition

1 pill contains: ferrous sulfate II and a half-water 256.3 mg (corresponds to 80 mg of iron).
Excipients: mucoproteasis, Ascorbic acid, potato starch, Eudragit C, dibutylphthalate, povidone, Magnesium stearate, castor oil, magnesium trisilicate.
Shell composition: talc, Eudragit E, titanium dioxide, starch, wax, paraffin, sucrose.

Packing

In the blister of 10 tablets. In packing 3 blisters.

Mechanism of action

Tardyferon retard compensates for iron deficiency in the body, which is necessary for the synthesis of hemoglobin.
Mukoproteoze - mucopolysaccharide, obtained from the intestinal mucosa, provides the best tolerability of the drug and increases the bioavailability and the gradual release of ferrous iron (Fe 2+) from the drug.
Ascorbic acid helps to improve iron absorption. After taking the drug, the absorption of iron occurs mainly in the distal small intestine. The maximum concentration of iron ion in the blood plasma is reached 7 hours after taking the drug and remains elevated during the day.
On average, 10–20% of the dose taken is absorbed. Absorption increases with decreasing iron stores in the body.

Indications and usage

Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency caused by:
- Pregnancy.
- lactation.
- Violation of the absorption of iron from the gastrointestinal tract.
- prolonged bleeding.
- Inadequate and unbalanced nutrition.

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to the drug.
- Diseases accompanied by the accumulation of iron in the body: aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, thalassemia, hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis.
- Violation of iron absorption: sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia, pernicious anemia (vitamin B12 deficiency), children (up to 6 years).

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Pregnant women (II and III trimester of pregnancy) and lactating women with a preventive purpose are advised to take 1 pill every other day.

Dosage and administration

The drug is taken orally after a meal. The duration of therapy is determined by the doctor individually. Adults - 1-2 pills per day. Pregnant women (II and III trimester of pregnancy) and lactating women with a preventive purpose are advised to take 1 pill every other day.

Special notes

Before starting treatment with an iron preparation, it is necessary to make a study of the level of serum iron, serum ferritin (that is, to document iron deficiency).Drug therapy should be carried out before normalization of the blood picture (8-12 weeks). When taking the drug may be dark staining of feces, false-positive benzidine test. It should be borne in mind that the use of tea in large quantities reduces the absorption of iron ions in the gastrointestinal tract. Special studies on the use of the drug in children have been conducted.

Drug interactions

At the same time taking Tardyferon with antacids, Tetracycline antibiotics and penicillamine absorption of iron worsens. With simultaneous intake of ascorbic acid, iron absorption improves. It can not be prescribed together with other iron preparations, including for parenteral use, in order to avoid overdose.

Overdosage

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
Treatment: if overdose is suspected, it is necessary to conduct a study of the content of serum iron and serum ferritin level, make a gastric lavage, put inside milk and a raw egg to enhance the binding of iron ions in the gastrointestinal tract and their subsequent excretion. In the case of a significant excess of normal serum ferritin levels, an iron chelator (desferal) should be prescribed.
