Ointment for external use

Composition

1 g contains calcipotriol 50 mcg, betamethasone dipropionate 500 mcg

Packing

Tuba 30

Mechanism of action

Daivobet - a combined drug for the local treatment of psoriasis. Calcipotriol is a synthetic analogue of the active metabolite of vitamin D, causes inhibition of keratinocyte proliferation and accelerates their morphological differentiation.
Betamethasone - GCS, when applied externally, has a local anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, anti-edema and anti-proliferative effect. It has a more pronounced vasoconstrictor effect than other fluorinated corticosteroids. When exposed to the skin, it prevents the regional accumulation of neutrophils, which leads to a decrease in exudation, cytokine production, inhibition of macrophage migration, and ultimately to a decrease in the processes of infiltration and granulation.

Indications and usage

Psoriasis vulgar.

Contraindications

- Diseases accompanied by impaired Calcium metabolism;
- viral, fungal, bacterial infections of the skin;
- hypersensitivity to the drug.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of use of Daibobota during pregnancy and lactation has not been studied, the use of the drug is possible only in cases where the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.

Dosage and administration

Daivobet is prescribed for adults. Ointment is applied with a thin layer to the affected skin 1 time / day. The maximum weekly dose is 100 g. The duration of the course of treatment is 4 weeks.

Adverse reactions

Dermatologic: itching, short-term skin irritation (at the site of ointment), dermatitis, erythema, exacerbation of psoriasis, skin atrophy, telangiectasia, striae formation (especially with prolonged use), folliculitis, hypertrichosis, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, hypopigmentation.
Systemic reactions: hypercalcemia (due to the content of calcipotriol), suppression of the function of the adrenal cortex (due to the content of betamethasone).

Special notes

with caution prescribe the drug to patients with severe impaired renal function and liver.
It is not recommended to apply ointment to the skin. Wash hands after use.
It is not recommended to use the drug on large areas and in the folds of the skin, under the occlusive dressing, because This increases the likelihood of systemic absorption of corticosteroids.
With the use of Daivobet in doses exceeding the recommended, it is possible that hypercalcemia develops, which quickly passes with a decrease in dose or withdrawal of the drug.
With very long use of GCS for external use (including Daivobet), suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system with the development of reversible secondary adrenal insufficiency or exacerbation of diabetes mellitus may develop.
With long-term use, the cancellation of Daivobet (like other GCS) should be carried out gradually.
Use in pediatrics
Clinical experience in the use of Daivobet in children is absent.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms
Daivobet does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms.

Drug Interactions
