Mechanism of action

Antiseptic, also has insecticidal (including anti-pediculosis) action. Coagulates proteins (including enzyme) microbial cells, violates the permeability of the cell wall. 5% aqueous solution inhibits phagocytosis, 2-4% solution retards the growth and development of bacteria. It has an irritating effect on mucous membranes, granulation tissue. Absorption has systemic toxic effects.
