Active ingredient and dosage form

Minisiston dragee: 1 dragee contains levonorgestrel 125 mcg and ethinyl estradiol 30 mcg; in a blister pack of 21, in a box of 1 blister.

Mechanism of action

Minisiston has an estrogen-progestin, contraceptive effect. Levonorgestrel in combination with ethinyl estradiol blocks the release of releasing factors (luteinizing and follicle-stimulating) hypothalamus, inhibits the secretion of pituitary gonadotropic hormones, and thus inhibits ovulation; increases the viscosity of mucus in the cervix, making it difficult for sperm to enter the uterine cavity. With regular use, it normalizes the menstrual cycle and helps to prevent a number of gynecological diseases, including neoplastic nature.

Indications and usage

Contraception, functional disorders of the menstrual cycle, dysmenorrhea.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, hormone-dependent tumors of the mammary glands or uterus, pronounced dysfunction and liver tumors, diabetes mellitus with vascular complications, thromboembolic diseases (including a history), arterial and venous thrombosis, arterial hypertension (severe form).

Adverse reactions

In rare cases, headache, depression, nausea, diarrhea, breast tenderness; with prolonged use, very rarely - chloasma, deterioration in the tolerability of contact lenses.

Dosage and administration

Minisiston accept inside. For contraception, 1 pill per day (the interval between successive doses should not exceed 36 hours) for 21 days, then a 7-day break and a new cycle.
