Active ingredient and dosage form

Nasal drops:
1 ml contains oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.1; 0.25 or 0.5 mg;

Mechanism of action

Nazivin - a vasoconstrictor drug for local use, alpha2-adrenergic medication.

When applied topically to the inflamed mucous membranes of the nose reduces their swelling and the number of secretions; restores nasal breathing. It helps to restore aeration of the paranasal sinuses, the middle ear cavity and prevents the development of bacterial complications (sinusitis, sinusitis, otitis media).

The drug begins to act within a few minutes. Duration up to 12 hours

Indications and usage

Acute rhinitis (including allergic), vasomotor rhinitis, paranasal sinusitis, eustachitis, otitis media. Vasoconstriction of the mucous membrane for diagnostic purposes (under the supervision of a physician).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, atrophic rhinitis, angle-closure glaucoma. Age up to 1 year - for Nazivin 0.025 and 0.05%; age up to 6 years - for Nazivin 0.05%.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended dosage. Nazivin should be used only after a thorough assessment of the balance between benefits and risks for the mother and the fetus.

Dosage and administration

Intranasal.
Nasal drops: adults and children over 6 years old - 1-2 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day 0.05% solution; children: babies up to 4 weeks - 1 drop of a 0.01% solution 2-3 times a day, from the 5th week of life and up to 1 year - 1-2 drops 2-3 times a day, from 1 year to 6 1–2 drops 2–3 times a day of a 0.025% solution.

To ensure the accuracy of the dosage Nazivina vial 0.01% of nasal drops has a graduated pipette with marks of the number of drops. The effectiveness of the following procedure has also been proven: depending on the age of 1–2 drops, a 0.01% solution is applied on cotton wool and rubbing the nasal passages.

Adverse reactions

Sometimes - burning or dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing; rarely, a strong feeling of nasal congestion (reactive hyperemia); very rarely - anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, headache, nausea. Multiple overdose with local nasal use sometimes leads to systemic sympathomimetic effects, such as increased heart rate (tachycardia) and increased blood pressure.
