Mechanism of action

Clindovit Gel 1% is an antibiotic from the group of lincosamides.

- Active in relation to:
- All strains of Propionibacterium acnes.

MIC - 0.4 mcg / ml.

Inhibits protein synthesis in the microbial cell due to interaction with the 50S-subunit of ribosomes.

Clindamycin phosphate is not active in vitro, but after being applied to the skin, it is rapidly hydrolyzed by phosphatases in the ducts of the sebaceous glands to form Clindamycin, which has antibacterial activity. After application to the skin, the amount of free fatty acids on the skin surface decreases from approximately 14% to 2%.

Indications and usage

Treatment of acne (acne vulgaris).

Contraindications

- Crohn's disease.
- Ulcerative colitis (including a history).
- Pseudomembranous colitis (including in history).

With caution:

- In patients under the age of 12 years (data on safety and efficacy are not available).
- During lactation (breastfeeding).
- In patients predisposed to the development of allergic reactions.
- While taking muscle relaxants.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

If necessary, use during lactation breastfeeding is recommended to stop.

Dosage and administration

The drug is used externally.

The gel is applied in a thin layer on the affected part of the previously cleaned and dried skin 2-3 times / day.

To obtain a therapeutic effect, treatment should be continued for 6-8 weeks, and if necessary, can be continued up to 6 months.

Adverse reactions

The drug is usually well tolerated.

- Local reactions: Possible irritation (at the site of application), burning, itching, dry skin, erythema, peeling, increased secretion of sebum, contact dermatitis.

- Systemic reactions: Pseudomembranous enterocolitis (likely to develop with systemic absorption of clindamycin).

Special notes

When applying, avoid contact with the eyes and mouth, and after applying the gel, wash your hands.

Drug Interactions

Clindamycin and Erythromycin are antagonists, so the simultaneous use of these antibiotics is not recommended.

There is cross-resistance between clindamycin and lincomycin.

Clindamycin may enhance the action of muscle relaxants by disrupting neuromuscular transmission.
