Composition and release form

Opatanol - eye drops:

1 ml contains olatopadin hydrochloride 1.11 mg; in dropper plastic bottles "Drop Tainer" in 5 ml; in a pack of cardboard 1 bottle.

Pharmacological Daction

Opatanol is a selective inhibitor of histamine H1receptors, as well as inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators from mast cells. Opatanol has a pronounced antiallergic effect. It has no effect on α-adrenergic, dopamine, muscarinic types 1 and 2, as well as serotonin receptors.

Indications

Allergic conjunctivitis.

Contraindications

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of Opatanol.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

There is not enough experience with the use of Opatanol during pregnancy and lactation. The use of the drug during pregnancy, during lactation is possible in the case when the expected therapeutic effect outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Side effects

Local In some cases (less than 5%): blurred vision, burning and pain in the eyes, lacrimation, foreign body sensation in the eye, conjunctival hyperemia, keratitis, iritis, eyelid swelling. In 0.1-1% of cases weakness, headache, dizziness,nausea, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, taste change. In some cases (less than 5%): blurred vision, burning and pain in the eyes, tearing, foreign body sensation in the eye, conjunctival hyperemia, keratitis, iritis, eyelid swelling. In 0.1-1% of cases, there is weakness, headache, dizziness, nausea, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, change in taste.

Dosage and administration

Opatanol is used topically. 1 drop 2 times a day in the conjunctival sac. Shake the vial before use.

special instructions

Opatanol contains benzalkonium chloride preservative, which can be absorbed by contact lenses. Before instillation of the drug, the lenses should be removed and installed back no earlier than 20 minutes after instillation of the drug.

Storage conditions and shelf life

Store in a cool and dark place, protected from light and moisture, at a temperature not higher than 25 ° C. Shelf life is 2 years.
