Mechanism of action

Antipsychotic drug, an atypical neuroleptic from the group of substituted benzamides.
Betamax has a moderately pronounced antipsychotic effect in combination with stimulating and thymoanaleptic (anti-depressive) effects.
The mechanism of antipsychotic action is associated with anti-dopaminergic activity. In the CNS, Sulpiride blocks predominantly the dopamine receptors of the limbic system, while the non-striated system is not significantly affected. The peripheral action of sulpiride is due to the inhibition of presynaptic receptors. With an increase in the amount of dopamine in the CNS, an improvement in mood is associated with a decrease in the development of symptoms of depression.
The antipsychotic effect of sulpiride is manifested in doses of more than 600 mg / day, in doses up to 600 mg / day, a stimulating and antidepressant effect prevails.
Betamax has no significant effect on noradrenergic, acetylcholine, serotonin, histamine and GABA receptors.
In small doses, sulpiride can be used as an adjunct in the treatment of psychosomatic diseases, in particular, the drug is effective in relieving negative mental symptoms of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer. In irritable bowel syndrome, sulpiride reduces the intensity of abdominal pain and leads to an improvement in the patient's clinical condition.
Betamax in low doses (50-300 mg / day) is effective for dizziness, regardless of etiology. The drug stimulates the secretion of prolactin and has a central antiemetic effect (inhibition of the vomiting center).

Drug Interactions

While taking Betamax and drugs that have a depressant effect on the central nervous system (opioid analgesics, antihistamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines and other anxiolytics), it is possible to increase the sedative effect of these drugs.
Betamax can enhance the sedative effect of ethanol.
Concurrent administration with levodopa due to mutual antagonism between levodopa and sulpiride should be avoided.
At the same time taking Betamax and antihypertensive drugs increases the risk of orthostatic hypotension.
