Mechanism of action

Herbal preparations have astringent properties, cause uterine contraction, increase blood clotting speed, have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-decay and diuretic properties, reduce mucosal bleeding, moderately reduce blood pressure, accelerate wound healing, increase immunity, increase the excretion of sodium and chlorine, reduce the crystallization of mineral salts in the urinary tract.

Indications and usage

In medicine, an infusion of herbs is used for diseases of the liver, kidneys, bladder, kidney stones, gastritis, gastric ulcer, hemorrhoids, pleurisy, tuberculosis, and lungs (soluble silicic acid strengthens lung tissue). Herbalium knotweed drugs inhibit the formation of urinary stones, have anti-inflammatory antimicrobial action, reduce the permeability of the walls of blood vessels, increase blood clotting, reduce blood pressure and deepen breathing.

Infusion of grass of the mountaineer bird (Infusum herba Polygoni aviculare) is used as uterine hemostatic agent.

Contraindications

Due to the high content of silicic acid, the plant is not recommended for acute diseases of the kidneys and bladder.
