Composition

Mechanism of action

Zalain cream 2% is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug derived from imidazole and benzothiophene.

In therapeutic doses has fungistatic and fungicidal action.

Active in relation to:

- Pathogenic fungi:
- Candida albicans.
- Candida tropicalis.
- Candida spp.
- Pityrosporum orbiculare.

- Trychophyton spp.
- Microsporum spp.

- Gram-positive strains: Streptococcus spp.

The mechanism of action of sertaconazole is to inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol (the main sterol membranes of fungi and yeast), and increase the permeability of the cell membrane, which leads to the lysis of the fungal cell.

Indications and usage

Superficial mycoses of the skin:
- Mycosis of the legs, feet and hands.
- Mycozy torso.
- Mycoses of the beard.
- Candida.
- Multicolor versicolor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to sertaconazole, imidazole derivatives or other components of the drug.

Adequate and strictly controlled clinical studies on the safety of Zalain during pregnancy and lactation have not been conducted. The use of the drug during pregnancy is possible only in cases where the intended benefit of therapy for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.

In the period of lactation should not be applied cream on the mammary glands. Data on the use of the drug in the period of lactation is currently not available, so if necessary, the appointment of the drug to the mother during lactation should individually decide on the termination of breastfeeding.

Dosage and administration

The cream should be applied to the affected skin with a uniform thin layer 2 times / day. with a grip of about 1 cm of the surface of healthy skin.

The duration of treatment depends on the etiology of the pathogen and the localization of the infection. Symptoms of the disease disappear, usually in 2-4 weeks. The recommended duration of treatment is 4 weeks.

The drug is not used in ophthalmic practice.

The use of acidic detergents is not recommended (in an acidic environment the reproduction of Candida spp. Mushrooms is enhanced).

Overdosage

Given the external method of use, overdose of the drug Zalain is unlikely. In case of accidental ingestion of the drug, symptomatic treatment is indicated.
