Mechanism of action

Combined drug that regulates the exchange of Calcium and phosphorus. Replenishes calcium and vitamin D deficiency₃ in the body.
Calcium is involved in the formation of bone tissue, the mineralization of teeth, blood coagulation, in the regulation of nerve conduction processes and muscle contractions, in maintaining stable cardiac activity.
Colecalciferol (Vitamin D₃) regulates the exchange of calcium and phosphorus in the body, contributes to the full absorption of calcium.

Overdosage

The most serious consequence of acute or chronic overdose is hypercalcemia, caused by hypersensitivity to vitamin D. Toxic effect is possible in the case of taking 200 chewable pills per day.
Symptoms: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, headache (the plasma calcium level is about 2.6 mmol / l), fainting and coma are possible. Polydipsia and polyuria indicate the possibility of renal damage.
Treatment: should discontinue the drug immediately. You must enter a large amount of fluid in your body and follow a diet with a limited amount of calcium. In severe cases, it may be necessary to use corticosteroids and to conduct other specialized therapies.

Drug Interactions

Calcium can enhance the absorption of Tetracycline preparations, fluorine-containing preparations and iron preparations, therefore Calcium-D tablets₃ Nikomed Forte should be taken 3 hours before or after taking the above medications.
