Active ingredient and dosage form

Vasilip film-coated tablets:
1 pill contains Simvastatin 10, 20 or 40 mg;
14 or 28 pieces per pack.

Mechanism of action

Vasilip is a lipid-lowering drug. The active ingredient of the drug is simvastatin, the main effect of which is the reduction of total cholesterol (total Xc) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (Xc-LDL) in plasma.

The therapeutic effect occurs after 2 weeks, the maximum effect is observed after 4-6 weeks of treatment.

Indications and usage

Hypercholesterolemia:
- primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia (in addition to the diet and with the ineffectiveness of other non-drug measures (exercise and weight loss);
- Homozygous hereditary hypercholesterolemia (in addition to a special diet and lipid-lowering therapy, for example, LDL apheresis), or with the ineffectiveness of these measures.

Cardiovascular prophylaxis:
- reduction of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in patients with clinical manifestations of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases or diabetes mellitus; with normal or elevated cholesterol and as an additional measure for the correction of other risk factors and cardioprotective therapy.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to simvastatin and other components of the drug;
liver disease in the active phase or a persistent increase in the activity of hepatic transaminases of unknown etiology;
simultaneous administration of cytochrome P450 3A4 inhibitors (CYP3A4) (for example, itraconazole, Ketoconazole, HIV protease inhibitors, Erythromycin, Clarithromycin, telithromycin, and nefazodone);
pregnancy and lactation;
age up to 18 years (efficacy and safety have not been studied).

Dosage and administration

Vasilip is taken orally, 1 time per day, in the evening. Drug intake time should not be associated with food intake. The recommended dose of the drug varies from 10 mg to 80 mg 1 time per day.
The duration of the drug is determined by the attending physician individually.

Adverse reactions

On the part of the digestive system: dyspepsia (nausea, vomiting, gastralgia, abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhea, flatulence), hepatitis, jaundice, increased activity of hepatic transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, CK; rarely acute pancreatitis.
On the part of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system: asthenic syndrome, dizziness, headache, insomnia, convulsions, paresthesia, peripheral neuropathy.
From the senses: blurred vision, a violation of taste sensations.
On the part of the musculoskeletal system: myopathy, myalgia, muscle weakness; rarely - rhabdomyolysis.
Allergic reactions: angioedema, lupus-like syndrome, rheumatic polymyalgia, vasculitis,thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, increased ESR, arthritis, arthralgia, urticaria, photosensitivity, fever, skin flushing, flushing of the skin of the face, shortness of breath.

Special notes
