Mechanism of action
Antimicrobial drug L-optician - a broad spectrum fluoroquinolone. Possesses bactericidal properties. Levofloxacin is capable of blocking DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV of bacterial microflora, disrupting supercoiling and elimination of DNA breaks. It inhibits DNA synthesis, causing deep morphological disturbances in the cytoplasm, cell wall and membranes of bacterial cells.
After instillation, levofloxacin remains in the tear film for a long time.
Indications
Infections of the anterior eye caused by microorganisms sensitive to levofloxacin.
Mode of application
Assign topically to the affected eye.
Children older than 1 year and adult patients are instilled 1 or 2 drops of conjunctival into the affected eye up to 8 times daily (or every 2 hours) during wakefulness. This lasts for the first two days, then (3-7 days) they switch to the dosing regimen 4 times a day. The duration of use of the L-optician is up to 7 days.
Contraindications
- Children up to a year;

- Breast-feeding.
The use of the drug in children, adolescents under 18 years old and pregnant women should be carried out with extreme caution.

- Allergic reactions, headaches, rhinitis.
- Development of contact dermatitis, eye irritation.
Overdosage

Symptoms of overdose: with the intake of possible: erosive lesions of the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, prolongation of the QT interval, dizziness, confusion, convulsions.

Special instructions and precautionary measures
L-Optic, eye drops 5% do not enter subconjunctival and avoid direct contact with the anterior eye chamber.
To avoid contamination of the solution, the tip of the dispenser does not need to touch any surfaces.
When treating fluoroquinolones, hypersensitivity reactions were observed, even after a single dose. If allergic reactions occur during the treatment with levofloxacin, its use should be stopped immediately.
As in the treatment of other antibiotics, long-term use of L-optic can lead to the growth of fungi, as well as other resistant microorganisms.
In the course of treatment, if the improvement does not occur in the first 3 or 5 days, the drug should be discontinued by prescribing an alternative therapy.
These eye drops are not used when using soft contact lenses, because they contain the preservative benzalkonium chloride, which is absorbed by contact lenses and can have an adverse effect on the organ of vision and cause discoloration of contact lenses.
Contact lenses of any type are contraindicated in the presence of symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis.
The simultaneous appointment of several ophthalmic topical preparations requires compliance with a 15-minute break between their installations.
In case of decrease in visual acuity when instilling L-optician droplets, driving is not recommended, as well as working with dangerous machinery until visual acuity returns to normal.
L-optician should be stored out of the reach of children, at temperatures up to 25 ° C. Its shelf life is 3 years. However, after opening the sealed vial, the drops must be used within a month.
