10 or 30 pieces packaged.

Mechanism of action

Furagin-antibacterial drug, a derivative of nitrofuran. Acts bacteriostatic. The mechanism of action of Furagin is associated with effects on enzymes involved in the transfer of hydrogen in cells of sensitive microorganisms. High bacteriostatic activity of Furagin is associated with the presence of an aromatic nitro group.
A drugactive against gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus faecalis;Gram-negative bacteria: Enterobacteriaceae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae.
To drugsteady Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The minimum bacteriostatic concentration of Furagin (1 μg / ml) is 10–20 times lower than other nitrofuran derivatives. The most pronounced effect of Furagin is in an acidic medium (pH 5.5), an alkaline medium prevents the action of the drug.

Indications and usage

- deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
- pregnancy: the period between the 38th and 42nd weeks;
- lactation;
- hypersensitivity to nitrofuran derivatives.
The drug is not prescribed to the newborn until the end of the first month of life.

Dosage and administration

For treatmentfor adults prescribed on the first day of therapy 100 mg (2 tab.) 4 times / day, in the following days - 100 mg 3 times / day.

It is not recommended to prescribe Furagin with urosepsis, as well as with kidney parenchyma infections.
During the period of application of Furagin, false positive results of the determination of glucose in the urine using Benedict and Fehling solutions can be observed. The results of the determination of glucose in the urine, performed by enzymatic methods, remain correct.
Control of laboratory parameters
During long-term treatment with Furagin, the level of leukocytes in the blood should be periodically monitored, as well as indicators of liver and kidney function.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms
Furagin does not affect the speed of psychomotor reactions, so it can be prescribed to patients whose activities require increased attention.

Overdosage

Symptoms: headache, dizziness, depression, psychosis, peripheral polyneuritis, allergic reactions (urticaria, angioedema, bronchospasm), nausea, vomiting, megaloblastic or hemolytic anemia (in people with glucose deficiency 6-phosphate dehydrogenase); very rarely - abnormal liver function.
Treatment: gastric lavage, in / in the introduction of infusion solutions; in severe cases, hemodialysis is indicated.

Drug Interactions

With simultaneous use of Furagin and nalidixic acid, a decrease in the bacteriostatic action of Furagin is noted.
With simultaneous use of Furagin and uricosuric drugs (probenecid, sulfinpyrazon), furazidine is excreted in the urine, which leads to a decrease in its therapeutic efficacy.This can lead to cumulation of furazidine in the body and increase the toxicity of Furagin.
With the simultaneous use of Furagin and antacids containing Magnesium trisilikat, Furagin absorption is reduced.

Storage conditions

Store in a dry, dark place.
