Composition

1 g ointment contains:
active substances: betamethasone dipropionate 0.64 mg and salicylic acid 15 mg;
Excipients: Vaseline, liquid paraffin.

Ointment from white to white with a yellowish or creamy shade of color. Existence of weak specific smell is allowed.

Pharmacology

Combined preparation for external use, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antiseptic, keratolytic action.
Betamethasone dipropionate - glucocorticosteroid, has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-exudative, anti-edema and antipruritic action. It inhibits the accumulation of leukocytes, the release of lysosomal enzymes and proinflammatory mediators in the focus of inflammation, inhibits phagocytosis, reduces vascular tissue permeability, prevents the formation of inflammatory edema.
Salicylic acid provides keratolytic, antimicrobial action, eliminates horny layers and contributes to a deeper penetration of the glucocorticosteroid.

Indications and usage

Local treatment of dermatoses accompanied by hyperkeratosis: psoriasis, limited and diffuse neurodermatitis, lichen planus, eczema, dyshydrotic dermatitis, ichthyosis and ichthyo-form changes.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, skin tuberculosis, perioral dermatitis, rosacea (rosacea), trophic ulcers on the background of chronic venous insufficiency, skin tumor (skin cancer, nevus, atheroma, epithelioma, melanoma, hemangioma, xanthoma, sarcoma); skin manifestations of syphilis, chicken pox, herpes simplex, skin post-vaccination reactions, open wounds, lactation period, children under 1 year of age.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of topical use of glucocorticosteroids in pregnant women has not been established; prescription of drugs of this group during pregnancy is justified only if the potential benefit outweighs the possible risk. During pregnancy, this group of drugs should not be used in high doses or for a long time. It is not established whether topical use of glucocorticosteroids can cause them to appear in mother's milk, therefore, the question of discontinuing breastfeeding should be resolved.

Dosage and administration

Outwardly. Akriderm® SK is applied with a thin layer to the affected skin area 2 times a day - in the morning and in the evening.Other frequency of use can be set by the doctor, based on the severity of the disease. In mild cases, it is enough to apply the ointment, usually once a day; more severe lesions may require more frequent use.

Adverse reactions

When topical glucocorticosteroids can be observed: burning, irritation, dry skin, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acne-like rashes, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis. With prolonged use, as well as the use of occlusive dressings - maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, prickly heat, purpura. When applied to large body surfaces, mainly in children, systemic side effects of glucocorticosteroids and salicylates may occur. In the event of adverse reactions that are not described in the instructions, you should consult a doctor.

Overdosage

Acute overdose is unlikely, however, with excessive or prolonged use of the drug, chronic overdose is possible, accompanied by signs of hypercortisolism: hyperglycemia, glycosuria, reversible inhibition of adrenal cortex function, manifestation of Cushing's syndrome. Treatment. Corresponding symptomatic treatment is indicated. In the case of chronic toxicity, gradual withdrawal of the drug is recommended.

Special notes

If there are signs of hypersensitivity or skin irritation associated with the use of the drug, discontinue treatment and select the appropriate therapy for the patient.
With prolonged treatment, when applying the drug on the vast surface of the skin, with the use of occlusive dressings, as well as in children, systemic absorption of glucocorticosteroids is possible.
Children from 1 year of the drug is prescribed only under strict indications and under medical supervision, as it is possible the development of systemic side effects associated with betamethasone. When using the drug on extensive surfaces and / or under an occlusive dressing, suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and the development of symptoms of hypercorticism may occur, a decrease in growth hormone excretion, an increase in intracranial pressure may be observed.
On the skin of the face more often than on other surfaces of the body, after prolonged treatment with glucocorticosteroids of local action, atrophic changes may occur; treatment in this case should not exceed 5 days.
Akriderm® SK ointment is not intended for use in ophthalmology. Avoid contact with eyes.
With prolonged use of the drug, its cancellation should be carried out gradually.
