Composition

POLYDEKS
Ear drops: 1 ml contains
neomycin sulfate 10 mg (6.5 thousand U)
polymyxin B sulfate 10 thousand units
dexamethasone sodium methylsulfobenzoate 1 mg
Excipients: lithium chloride, thiomersal, citric acid, sodium hydroxide, polyethylene glycol 400, polysorbate 80, distilled water;
10.5 ml in a bottle of dark glass complete with a dosing pipette, in a cardboard box.

Nasal spray in the form of a clear, colorless liquid.

Phenylephrine hydrochloride 2.5 mg

Mechanism of action

Combined drug for local use in otorhinolaryngology. The therapeutic effect of the drug Polydex is due to the anti-inflammatory effect of Dexamethasone and the antibacterial action of the antibiotics neomycin and polymyxin B.When these antibiotics are combined, the spectrum of antibacterial action is extended to most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms that cause infectious and inflammatory diseases of the external and middle ear, nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses.
Neomycin active against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae.
Polymyxin B active against gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
To the action of these antibiotics are resistant Streptococcus spp. (including Streptococcus pneumoniae) and anaerobic bacteria.
Phenylephrine is a sympathomimetic, it constricts the vessels of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses, resulting in reduced swelling and nasal breathing is facilitated.
In the absence of damage to the eardrum, Polydex has no systemic effect.

POLYDEKS WITH PHENILEFRINOM
Inflammatory and infectious diseases of the nasal cavity, pharynx, paranasal sinuses:
- acute and chronic rhinitis;
- acute and chronic rhinopharyngitis;
- sinusitis.

Dosage and administration

POLYDEKS appoint 1-5 drops in each ear 2 times / day for 6-10 days.
Before using the ear drops, it is recommended to warm the bottle, holding it in your hand, in order to avoid unpleasant sensations associated with the ingress of cold liquid into the ear.After instillation of the drug in one ear, you should tilt your head in the opposite direction for a few minutes and then drip in the other ear.

POLYDEX WITH PHENILEFRINOM is prescribed for adults 1 injection of 3-5 times / day in each nostril for 5-10 days.
Children aged 2.5 to 15 years - 1 injection 3 times / day in each nostril for 5-10 days.

Adverse reactions

Allergic reactions: rarely - skin manifestations.

Contraindications

- Infectious or traumatic damage to the eardrum;
- hypersensitivity to the drug;
- suspicion of angle-closure glaucoma;
- simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors;
- kidney disease, accompanied by albuminuria;
- pregnancy;
- lactation (breastfeeding);
- children's age up to 2.5 years.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).

Special notes

POLIDEX. Before starting treatment, it is necessary to examine the condition of the eardrum. When perforation of the eardrum, the use of the drug is unacceptable, due to the risk of toxic effects on the vestibular and hearing aids.
If you are allergic to neomycin, cross-allergy with aminoglycoside antibiotics is possible.

POLYDEX WITH PHENILEFRINOM is not indicated for patients with renal insufficiency.
Do not use for washing the paranasal sinuses.
The drug is used with caution in patients with arterial hypertension, IHD, and hyperthyroidism.
It should be borne in mind that the drug contains components that can give a positive result when conducting doping control in athletes.

Overdosage

Due to the low degree of absorption into the systemic circulation, overdose is unlikely.

Drug Interactions

Drug interaction due to the content of phenylephrine. With the simultaneous use of guanethidine and drugs of this group enhance the hypertensive effect of phenylephrine, and, due to the decrease in sympathetic tone of guanethidine, prolonged mydriasis is possible. If this combination cannot be avoided, then a doctor’s observation is necessary.

The drug should be stored at a temperature not higher than 25 ° C.
