Composition and release form

GLUCOBAY - tablets:

1 pill contains acarbose 50 and 100 mg; 30 pieces per pack.

pharmachologic effect

Glucobay has a hypoglycemic effect. It inhibits intestinal alpha-glucosidases, which break down di-, oligo- and polysaccharides, slows down the absorption of carbohydrates (including glucose), reduces the average level and daily fluctuations of glucose in the blood.

Indications

Diabetes mellitus I (combination therapy) and type II.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, chronic bowel disease with severe digestive disorders and absorption, Romgeld syndrome, large hernia, narrowing and ulcers of the intestine, adolescence and youth (up to 18 years).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Contraindicated in pregnancy. Nursing mothers should stop breastfeeding.

Side effects

Sometimes possible: dyspeptic disorders, increased activity of hepatic transaminases.

Dosage and administration

Glucobay is taken orally, just before a meal, wholly, without chewing, with a small amount of liquid or chewing with the first portion of food. Type 2 diabetic patients. Initial dose - 1 tab. on 50 mg or 1/2 tab. 100 mg 3 times a day.In the future, the dose should be increased to the average daily - 300 mg per day (2 tablets. 50 mg each or 1 table. 100 mg 3 times a day).

Glucobay enhances the hypoglycemic effect of other antidiabetic agents.

Terms and conditions of storage

The drug should be stored out of reach of children at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Shelf life - 5 years.
