Indications and usage

For adults and children ages 1 and older, treatment of symptoms:
- year-round and seasonal allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis, such as itching, sneezing, rhinorrhea, tearing, conjunctival hyperemia;
- hay fever (pollinosis);
- urticaria (including chronic idiopathic urticaria) and angioedema;
- Other allergic dermatosis, accompanied by itching and rashes.

Dosage and administration

The drug is prescribed inside.
Children aged 1 to 2 years appoint 2.5 mg (5 drops) 2 times / day.
Children aged 2 to 6 years appoint 2.5 mg (5 drops) 2 times / day or 5 mg (10 drops) 1 time / day.
Adults and children over 6 years old administered at a dose of 10 mg (1 tab. or 20 drops) per day. Adults - 10 mg 1 time / day; children 5 mg 2 times / day or 10 mg 1 time / day. Sometimes an initial dose of 5 mg may be sufficient.
Patients with moderate to severe renal insufficiency are prescribed half the recommended dose.
Elderly patients with normal renal function, dose adjustment is not required.

Adverse reactions

Gastrointestinal: dry mouth; in some cases - dyspepsia.
From the side of the central nervous system: possible mild and quickly passing drowsiness, headache, fatigue; in some cases - arousal.
Allergic reactions: in some cases - skin rashes, angioedema.
The drug is generally well tolerated. Side effects are rare, usually have a mild and transient nature.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or to hydroxyzine.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

It is preferable to refrain from using Zyrtek during pregnancy.
Since Cetirizine is excreted in breast milk, if necessary, the appointment of the drug during lactation should decide on the termination of breastfeeding.
AT experimental studies not established teratogenic or embryotoxic action of the drug.

Special notes

When applied in recommended doses, Zyrtec does not enhance the effect of alcohol (when its content in the blood is up to 0.5 g / l), however, it is recommended to refrain from drinking alcohol while using Zyrtek.
Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms
Objective methods of studying the ability to engage in potentially hazardous activities did not reliably reveal any adverse effects when using the drug in the recommended dose of 10 mg.

Storage conditions

Tablets should be stored in a dry place at temperatures below 25 ° C. Solution-drops should be stored at room temperature (15 ° to 25 ° C). The shelf life of the drug is 5 years.
