Indications and usage

- as part of complex treatment of coronary artery disease (angina, myocardial infarction), chronic heart failure, dyshormonal cardiomyopathy;
- as part of the complex treatment of acute and chronic disorders of cerebral circulation (strokes and cerebrovascular insufficiency);
- hemophthalmus, retinal hemorrhages of various etiologies;
- Thrombosis of the central vein of the retina and its branches;
- retinopathy of various etiologies (diabetic, hypertensive);
- reduced performance;
- physical overstrain (including athletes);
- withdrawal syndrome in chronic alcoholism (in combination with a specific therapy of alcoholism).

Contraindications

- increased intracranial pressure (including in violation of the venous outflow, intracranial tumors);
- Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Dosage and administration

In connection with the possibility of the development of the exciting effect of the drug is recommended to be used in the morning.
In cardiovascular diseases as part of complex therapy, a drug is prescribed at a dose of 0.5–1 g per day inside or in / in (5–10 ml of the solution for injection with a concentration of 0.5 g / 5 ml), the frequency of application is 1-2 times / day. The course of treatment is 4-6 weeks.
In case of cardialgia on the background of dyshormonal dystrophy of myocardium Mildronate is administered orally 0.25 g 2 times / day. The course of treatment is 12 days.
In violation of cerebral circulation in the acute phase, the drug is prescribed intravenously in a dose of 0.5 g 1 time per day for 10 days, then transferred to taking the drug inside 0.5-1 g / day. The general course of therapy is 4-6 weeks.
For chronic disorders the drug is taken orally at 0.5 g / day. The general course of therapy is 4-6 weeks. Repeated courses are prescribed individually 2-3 times a year.
With vascular pathology and degenerative diseases of the retina Mildronate is administered parabulbarny 0.5 ml / solution for injection with a concentration of 0.5 g / 5 ml for 10 days.
During mental and physical stress administered orally at 0.25 g 4 times / day or in / in 0.5 g 1 time / day. The course of treatment is 10-14 days. If necessary, therapy is repeated after 2-3 weeks.

Adverse reactions

Cardiovascular: rarely - tachycardia, changes in blood pressure.
From the side of the central nervous system: rarely - psychomotor agitation.
Gastrointestinal: rarely - dyspeptic symptoms.
Allergic reactions: rarely - itching, redness, rash, swelling.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The safety of Mildronate during pregnancy has not been proven. In order to avoid possible adverse effects on the fetus, the drug should not be prescribed during pregnancy.
It is not known whether the drug is excreted in breast milk. If necessary, use Mildronate during lactation breastfeeding should be discontinued.

Special notes

The drug is used with caution for a long time in patients with chronic liver and kidney diseases.
Long-term experience in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina in the cardiology departments shows that Mildronate is not a first-line drug for acute coronary syndrome.
Use in pediatrics
Data on the safety and efficacy of Mildronate in children is not enough.

Drug Interactions

When used together, Mildronate enhances the action of antianginal drugs, some antihypertensive drugs, and cardiac glycosides.
Mildronate can be combined with antianginal drugs, anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents, antiarrhythmic drugs, diuretics, bronchodilators.
When combined with Nitroglycerin, Nifedipine, alpha-blockers, antihypertensive drugs and peripheral vasodilators with mildronate, mild tachycardia and hypotension may develop (use caution when using this combination).
