Mechanism of action

Vizin is a sympathomimetic drug that stimulates the alpha-adrenergic receptors of the sympathetic nervous system, but does not have or has a weak effect on beta-adrenergic receptors. Being a sympathomimetic amine, it has a vasoconstrictor effect and reduces tissue swelling.

The effect begins a few minutes after instillation and lasts 4-8 hours.

Indications and usage

Adults and children over 2 years old are prescribed to relieve swelling and hyperemia of the conjunctiva (reddening of the eyes) arising from allergies or due to chemical and physical factors (smoke, dust, chlorinated water, light, cosmetics, contact lenses).
Children under 6 years old are prescribed under the supervision of a physician.

The drug "Vizin" should not be prescribed to patients with angle-closure glaucoma and endothelial-epithelial dystrophy of the cornea.

It is used in patients with severe cardiovascular diseases (ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension, arrhythmias, aneurysm), hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma, diabetes mellitus and in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other means that can increase blood pressure.

Dosage and administration

For 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye 2-3 times a day.
Not recommended continuous use of the drug for more than 4 days.

Adverse reactions

Seldom: a burning sensation, redness of the eye, pain in the eye, tingling in the eye, blurred vision, irritation of the conjunctiva, and pupil dilation. If the above symptoms show, consult a doctor.

Contact lenses should be removed before instillation of the drug and install them after about 15 minutes.
The drug "Visin" is advisable to use only with a slight eye irritation. If within 48 hours the condition does not improve or the irritation and redness persist or increase, the drug should be discontinued and consult a doctor. In the event of intense pain in the eyes, headache, loss of vision, the sudden appearance of "floating" spots before the eyes, redness of the eyes, pain when exposed to light or double vision in the eyes, you should immediately consult a doctor.
Do not use the drug "Vizin", if irritation or redness is associated with serious diseases of the organ of vision: infection, foreign body or chemical injury of the cornea.
