Mechanism of action

Methyluracil - immunostimulating agent, dioxomethyltetrahydropyrimidine. It helps normalize the exchange of nucleic acids, accelerates cell regeneration processes in wounds, accelerates growth and granulation tissue maturation and epithelialization (including in fast proliferating cells of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract), stimulates erythroma and leukopoiesis, cellular and humoral immunity factors. It has anabolic activity, anti-inflammatory action. When applied externally, it also has a photoprotective effect.

Indications and usage

Proctitis, sigmoiditis, ulcerative colitis.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Methyluracil.

Dosage and administration

Rectal use in adults of 0.5-1 g 3-4 times / sutk; in children aged 3-8 years - 250 mg / day, at the age of 8-15 years - 500 mg / day. The course of treatment - from 1 week. up to 4 months

Adverse reactions

Maybe: allergic reactions; when ingestion - headache, dizziness, heartburn.
