Pharmacology
- broad-spectrum antibiotic. It is the first representative of a new subgroup of macrolide antibiotics - azalides. When creating in the focus of inflammation of high concentrations has a bactericidal effect.
Gram-positive cocci are sensitive to Azithromycin : Streptococcus pneumoniae, St. pyogenes, St. agalactiae, streptococcus groups CF and G, Staphylococcus aureus, St. Viridans; Gram-negative bacteria: Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Bordetella pertussis, B. parapertussis, Legionella pneumophila, H. ducrei, Campylobacter jejuni, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Gardnerella vaginalis; some anaerobic microorganisms: Bacteroides bivius, Clostridium perfringens, Peptostreptococcus spp; as well as Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Treponema pallidum, Borrelia burgdoferi. Azithromycin is inactive against gram-positive bacteria that are resistant to Erythromycin.
Azithromycin remains in bactericidal concentrations in the inflammatory focus for 5–7 days after the last dose, which allowed the development of short (3-day and 5-day) courses of treatment.

- Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug:
- Infections of the upper respiratory tract and ENT organs (tonsillitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis media);

Enhances the action of ergot alkaloids, dihydroergotamine; tetracyclines and chloramphenicol - action synergism; Lincosamides reduce efficacy. Antacids, ethanol food - slow down and reduce absorption. Cycloserine, indirect anticoagulants, methylprednisolone, felodipine coumarin anticoagulants - slowing excretion, increasing serum concentrations and increasing the toxicity of the listed drugs. Inhibiting microsomal oxidation and hepatocytes, lengthens the half-life, slows down the excretion, increases the concentration and toxicity of drugs (including Carbamazepine, ergot alkaloids, valproic acid, hexobarbital, phenytoin, disopyramide, Bromocriptine, theophyline, and I can not use the object and I’m not already using the therapist for a new method to get the same). ).
