Mechanism of action

Flexid has a broad spectrum antibacterial, bactericidal effect.

Infections caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms:
- infections of upper respiratory tract (acute sinusitis);
- infections of the lower respiratory tract (acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia);
- uncomplicated urinary tract and kidney infections;
- Complicated urinary tract and kidney infections (including pyelonephritis);
- prostatitis;
- infections of the skin and soft tissues.

Contraindications

- epilepsy;
- tendon lesions arising from the previous treatment with fluoroquinolones;
- age up to 18 years;
- pregnancy;
- lactation period (breastfeeding);
- hypersensitivity to Levofloxacin or other quinolones, and / or to other components of Fleksida.
Care should be taken:
- in the appointment of levofloxacin in combination with drugs that affect tubular secretion, such as probenecid and cimetidine, especially in the treatment of patients with impaired renal function;
- in the treatment of patients with a predisposition to epileptic seizures, during treatment with fenbufen and similar non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or drugs that reduce the threshold of seizures, such as theophylline;
- in patients with latent or overtly impaired glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity due to the risk of hemolytic reactions.

Dosage and administration

Flexid is taken orally: irrespective of food intake, 250–500 mg 1 time per day. The duration of treatment depends on the indications for use. In the event of impaired renal function, an adjustment of the administration regimen is required, including dose reduction depending on creatinine clearance.

Adverse reactions

The following side effects were classified as follows: very common (> 10%), common (1-10%), unpredictable (0.1-1%), rare (0.01-0.1%), very rare (<0.01%).
From the digestive system: common - nausea, diarrhea (including mixed with blood), increased activity of liver enzymes (ALT, AST); not common - loss of appetite, vomiting, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, hyperbilirubinemia; rare - enterocolitis, pseudomembranous colitis; very rare - hypoglycemia, hepatitis.
The nervous system: not common - headache, dizziness, sleep disturbance; rare - paresthesias, tremor, anxiety, agitation, confusion, convulsions; very rare - hallucinations, extrapyramidal disorders and other coordination disorders.
From the senses: very rare - impaired vision, hearing, smell, taste and tactile sensitivity.
Cardiovascular: rare - tachycardia, hypotension; very rare - vascular collapse.
Musculoskeletal system: rare - arthralgia, myalgia, tendonitis; very rare - tendon rupture (for example, Achilles tendon), muscle weakness (is of particular importance for patients with myasthenia); in some cases - rhabdomyolysis.
On the part of the urinary system: undistributed - hypercreatininemia; very rare - interstitial nephritis, deterioration of renal function up to acute renal failure.
On the part of the blood system and the blood-forming organs: Undistributed - eosinophilia, leukopenia; rare - neutropenia, thrombocytopenia; very rare - agranulocytosis; in some cases - hemolytic anemia, pancytopenia.
Allergic reactions: not common - itching, skin rash; rare - urticaria, bronchospasm, shortness of breath; very rare - angioedema, hypotension, anaphylactic shock, allergic pneumonitis, photosensitization; in some cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), erythema multiforme.
Other: not common - asthenia; very rare - fever, vasculitis.
