Mechanism of action

Pharmacodynamics

Troxerutin has a veno-tonic, angioprotective, anti-edema, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant effect. It has P-vitamin activity, regulates redox processes, blocks hyaluronidase, stabilizes cell membrane hyaluronic acid, thereby reducing their permeability and capillary fragility, as well as preventing damage to the basal membrane of endothelial cells.
It has a protective effect on connective tissue, and in particular, collagen, improves tissue trophism in varicose syndrome.
Increases the density of the vascular wall, reduces the exudation of the liquid part of the plasma and diapedesis of blood cells. Reduces exudative inflammation in the vascular wall, limiting adhesion to its surface platelets. Patients with chronic venous insufficiency are recommended for use in both the initial and late stages of the disease. As a result of the treatment, the feeling of heaviness in the legs disappears, the swelling of the lower extremities decreases, and trophism improves.
In addition to the venotonic and angioprotective effects leading to troxerutin, it has a number of other pharmacological properties - membrane stabilizing, antihemorrhagic, radioprotective.

Pharmacokinetics

Сmax of hydroxyethylrutozide is reached in 2-8 hours. The half-life is about 24 hours. Metabolized in the liver to form two metabolites. Excreted mainly with bile and slightly with urine during the day.

Indications and usage

- chronic venous insufficiency with such manifestations as static heaviness in the legs, leg ulcers, trophic skin lesions;
- varicose veins, including during pregnancy (starting from the 4th month of pregnancy);
- thrombophlebitis, periphlebitis;
- post-thrombotic syndrome;
- hemorrhoids;
- as a prophylactic after operations on the veins.

Contraindications

• peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer;
• chronic gastritis (in the acute phase);
• hypersensitivity to troxerutin;
• pregnancy (I term);
• lactation period.

Adverse reactions

On the part of the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia.
Allergic reactions: skin manifestations (urticaria, pruritus).
From the side of the central nervous system: in some cases - headache, sleep disturbance. Side effects are rare.

How to take, the course of administration and dosage

Accept inside during food, washing down with enough water.
Initial dose - 1 capsule 3 times a day; supportive therapy - 1-2 capsules per day. The course of treatment is 2-4 weeks.

You can use the drug as one of the components of complex treatment.
