Senna is a laxative of plant origin. Senna leaves contain dianthron glycosides (about 3%) - sennosides A, A1, B-G; small amount of anthraquinone glycosides, incl. aloe-emodina and rein 8-glycosides; about 10% mucus; flavonoids, incl. camperol derivatives; naphthalene glycosides. Stimulates colon motility, causes normal stools 8-10 hours after ingestion. Selectively acts on the colon, restores the normal functioning of the intestine, does not cause addiction and does not affect digestion.
Chronic constipation (hypotension, atony of the large intestine), stool regulation for hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures.
Hypersensitivity to the drug, spastic constipation, spastic colitis, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal organs, appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, strangulated hernia, perforated ulcer, proctitis and hemorrhoids (acute phase), abdominal pain of obscure genesis, metrorrhagia, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, hemorrhoids cystitis, disorders of water and electrolyte metabolism, pregnancy, breastfeeding,children's age up to 12 years.
Contraindicated: pregnancy, breastfeeding period.
4 filter bags (6 g) are placed in a glass or enameled bowl, 200 ml (1 cup) of boiling water are poured, covered with a lid and brewed until completely cooled, and the filter bags are drained. The volume of the resulting infusion is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.
Accept inside on 1/2 glasses for the night. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks. Before use, the infusion is recommended to shake.
With prolonged use of drugs senna can develop addiction, so it is advisable to alternate them with other laxatives.
Senna preparations reduce the absorption of Tetracycline.
Symptoms: diarrhea, violation of water and electrolyte metabolism.
Treatment: symptomatic.
