Mechanism of action

Immunostimulating, antiviral, anti-inflammatory
Cycloferon is a low molecular weight inducer of Interferon, which determines a wide range of its pharmacological activity (antiviral, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, etc.).

The main cells producing interferon after administration of Cycloferon are macrophages, T-lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes, fibroblasts, epithelial cells. Depending on the type of infection, activation of one or another immunity link takes place. The drug induces high titers of interferon in organs and tissues containing lymphoid elements (spleen, liver, lungs), activates bone marrow stem cells, stimulating the formation of granulocytes. Cycloferon activates T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells, normalizes the balance between T-helper and T-suppressor subpopulations. Overcomes the blood-brain barrier.

Cycloferon is effective against tick-borne encephalitis, influenza, hepatitis, herpes, cytomegalovirus, human immunodeficiency virus, papillomavirus and other viruses.

The high efficacy of the drug in the complex therapy of acute and chronic bacterial infections (chlamydia, erysipelas, bronchitis, pneumonia, postoperative complications, bacterial and fungal infections of the urogenital area, peptic ulcer) as a component of immunotherapy has been established.

Cycloferon exhibits high efficacy in rheumatic and systemic diseases of the connective tissue, suppressing autoimmune reactions and exerting an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.

The immunomodulatory effect of cycloferon is expressed in the activation of phagocytosis, natural killer cells, cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and correction of the immune status of the body in immunodeficient and autoimmune states of various origin

Indications and usage

Cycloferon is used in adults:
- in the treatment of influenza and other respiratory viral infections;
- in the treatment of acute and chronic viral hepatitis (severe forms of hepatitis A, hepatitis B and C, cytomegalovirus hepatitis);
- in the treatment of herpes infection;
- in the treatment of HIV infection (stages 1A-3B);
- in the complex therapy of neuroinfections (serous meningitis, tick-borne borreliosis (Lyme disease), multiple sclerosis, etc.);
-in complex treatment of intestinal infections as a component of immunotherapy;
- in case of secondary immunodeficiencies of various etiologies (early postoperative period, intensive cytostatic and hormonal therapy, chronic infections, neoplasms and other immunodeficiency states);
- as a means of immunoprophylaxis of carcinogenesis in high-risk groups (radiation damage, living in contaminated areas and other man-made factors

Contraindications

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver cirrhosis.
In diseases of the thyroid gland, cycloferon is administered under the control of an endocrinologist.

Dosage and administration

Using Cycloferon for emergency non-specific prevention and treatment of influenza and other acute respiratory infections: the drug is taken orally once a day on an empty stomach according to the scheme: 1 day - 4 pills simultaneously, for 2, 4, 6 days - 2 tablets. A total of 10 pills per course (one pack) Cycloferon is used orally in adults once a day, half an hour before meals, without chewing, according to the basic scheme, 2-4 pills per dose in 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23 days depending on the nature of the disease

Adverse reactions
