Mechanism of action

An antibiotic of the group of lincosamides for local use. The mechanism of action is associated with the suppression of protein synthesis in the microbial cell due to the interaction with the 50S subunit of ribosomes. Has a bacteriostatic effect; in higher concentrations in relation to some microorganisms - bactericidal.
A drug active against microorganisms that cause vaginosis: Gardnerella vaginalis, Mobiluncus mulieris, Mobiluncus curtisii, Mycoplasma hominis, Peptostreptococcus spp., Bacteroides spp.
To drug are resistant Trichomonas vaginalis, Candida albicans.
The cross-resistance of microorganisms to Clindamycin and Lincomycin was noted.

Indications and usage

- treatment of bacterial vaginosis caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug.

The recommended single dose (5 g of cream, which corresponds to 100 mg of clindamycin) is injected into the vagina at bedtime. The course of treatment is 3 days.
1 full applicator corresponds to a single dose of the drug.
Vaginal suppositories are inserted into the vagina in 1 pc. (preferably overnight) for 3 days.
Suppositories can be administered without an applicator and with an applicator. After each use, the applicator should be washed with warm water and soap and dried well.

Adverse reactions

From the genitourinary system: cervicitis, vaginitis, vulva irritation, vaginal pain, vaginal discharge, vaginal infections, vaginal candidiasis, dysuria, pyelonephritis, menstrual disorders.
Gastrointestinal: possible abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation.
From the side of the central nervous system: dizziness, headache.
Allergic reactions: skin rash, urticaria, itching (including at the injection site).
On the part of the body as a whole: fever, localized abdominal pain (includingin the side), localized edema, fungal infections (including candidiasis).

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to clindamycin or lincomycin.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Adequate and controlled studies on the use of the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy has not been conducted. The use of Dalacin in the form of vaginal suppositories and vaginal cream is possible if the intended benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Currently, there are no data on the elimination of clindamycin with breast milk when using Dalacin in the form of vaginal suppositories. However, it has been established that with the introduction of clindamycin orally or parenterally, a certain amount of it is found in breast milk. Therefore, during lactation (breastfeeding), the drug is used only under strict indications.
According to clinical trials the use of the drug in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy did not entail any pathological consequences.

Special notes

With the use of the drug systemic absorption of clindamycin is possible. In this regard, when severe or prolonged diarrhea occurs during the treatment with Dalacin, it is necessary to discontinue the drug, conduct diagnostic procedures and, if necessary, prescribe appropriate treatment.
Do not recommend the use of Dalacin vaginal cream and vaginal suppositories simultaneously with other intravaginal means.
The patient should be informed that during the use of vaginal cream and vaginal suppositories sexual contact should be avoided, as well as other types of products intended for intravaginal administration (for example, tampons) should be used.
Dalacin in the form of vaginal suppositories and vaginal cream contains components that can reduce the strength of latex or rubber products (condoms, vaginal contraceptive contraceptives). Therefore, the use of such products during treatment with Dalacin in the form of vaginal suppositories and vaginal cream is not recommended.

Overdosage

Currently, overdose of the drug Dalacin has not been reported. If the drug is swallowed accidentally, the effects that occur when taking clindamycin orally are possible.If necessary, conduct symptomatic therapy.

Antagonistic interaction has been observed between dalacin and Erythromycin.
It has been established that with systemic use, clindamycin disrupts neuromuscular transmission, therefore, it is possible to enhance the effect of muscle relaxants of peripheral action. This fact should be taken into account when it is necessary to appoint the latter with Dalacin.

Storage conditions

The drug in the form of a vaginal cream should be stored at a temperature of from 20 ° to 25 ° C; do not freeze. Expiration date - 21 months.
The drug in the form of vaginal suppositories should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Shelf life - 3 years.
