Adverse reactions
Adverse events with the use of corticosteroids topically include burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acne-like rashes, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis. When using occlusive dressings, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, atrophy of the skin, stria, and prickly heat occur.

If symptoms of irritation or sensitization occur with the use of ointment, Diprosalik lotion, treatment should be stopped. If there is infection, prescribe the appropriate therapy.
With long-term use of the drug on large surfaces (especially when using occlusive dressings), side effects are possible due to the resorptive effect of betamethasone, including oppression of the adrenal cortex.
The safety of using local glucocorticosteroids in pregnant women has not been established. The purpose of this group of drugs during pregnancy is justified only if the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.
The drug can be used in children aged 2 years.
When prescribing glucocorticoids, locally in children more often than in adults there are signs of suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system due to the greater in children ratio of body surface area to mass.
Suppression of adrenal function, Cushing's syndrome, growth retardation, insufficient weight gain, increased intracranial pressure were observed in children who received corticosteroids for local use. Manifestations of adrenal suppression in children: low plasma cortisol levels and a lack of response to ACTH stimulation. Increased intracranial pressure is manifested by protrusion of the fontanel, headaches, bilateral swelling of the optic nerve head.
