Active ingredient

Mechanism of action

Elzhina^® - combined drug with antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory effects for local use in gynecology.

Ornidazole is an antimicrobial agent with antimicrobial action.

Ornidazole is effective against Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia (Giardia intestinalis), and also some anaerobic bacteria, such as Bacteroides spp. and Clostridium spp., Fusobacterium spp., and anaerobic cocci of Peptostreptococcus spp.

The mechanism of action is due to inhibition of synthesis and damage to the structure of DNA exciters.

Neomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group. Active against a number of gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic microorganisms.

The resistance of microorganisms to neomycin develops slowly and to a small extent. Practically not absorbed through the mucous membranes.

Econazole combines antifungal action against dermatophytes Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., Epidermophyton spp., Yeast and yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida with antibacterial action against gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.

Prednisolone is a dehydrated analogue of Hydrocortisone, has anti-inflammatory, antiallergic and antipruritic action. Promotes rapid reduction of itching and burning.

Indications and usage

• bacterial vaginitis caused by banal pyogenic flora;
• vulvovaginal mycoses caused by Candida fungi;
• vaginitis caused by mixed infection.

Contraindications

• hypersensitivity to any component of the drug;
• children and adolescents up to 18 years.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Drug Elzhina^® contraindicated in pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

If necessary, use of the drug breastfeeding should be discontinued.

Special notes

In the case of treatment of vaginitis, simultaneous treatment of sexual partners is recommended. Cross-allergization and cross-resistance to aminoglycosides may develop.

Use of the drug for more than 9 days is not recommended.

Does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms.

Intravaginally, 1 vaginal table. daily before bedtime.

The vaginal pill should be inserted deep into the vagina in a supine position, after hygienic treatment of the external genital organs. Before the introduction into the vagina, the pill must be held in cold boiled water for 20-30 seconds. After the introduction of the pill should lie for 10-15 minutes.

The average duration of treatment is 6 to 9 days.

Adverse reactions

Drug Interactions

The incompatibility or interaction of the active components of Elzhina with other drugs are not described. It is recommended to inform the physician about simultaneous treatment with other drugs.

Overdosage

Due to the low degree of absorption of components into the systemic circulation, overdose is unlikely.
