Composition

1 bag of powder for preparing a solution for topical and external use contains:
active ingredient: furazidin potassium 100 mg;
excipients: sodium chloride - 900 mg

Mechanism of action

Furasol is an antimicrobial agent derived from nitrofuran. Effective against gram-positive cocci (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.), Gram-negative bacilli (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp.). Resistant: Acinetobacter spp., Most strains of Proteus spp., Serratia spp.

The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis. Depending on the concentration, it has a bactericidal or bacteriostatic effect. Against most bacteria, the bacteriostatic concentration is 10–20 mcg / ml. The bactericidal concentration is about 2 times higher. Under the influence of nitrofurans in microorganisms, the activity of the respiratory chain and the tricarboxylic acid cycle (Krebs cycle) is suppressed, as well as the suppression of other biochemical processes, which leads to the destruction of their membrane or cytoplasmic membrane. Nitrofurans increase complement titer and the ability of leukocytes to phagocytose microorganisms.

Indications

As a local remedy for the complex treatment of the following conditions and diseases: infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity, oropharynx; infected wounds.

Contraindications

• hypersensitivity to furazidine, other components of the drug or nitrofuran preparations;
• allergic dermatitis;
• pregnancy;
• lactation period;
• age up to 4 years.

Side effects

In some cases, may develop allergic reactions. In this case, the use of the drug is stopped. Prescribed symptomatic therapy.

Interaction

In combination with antibiotics, it shows synergism. In the case of alcohol during drug treatment increases the likelihood of allergic skin reactions.

How to take, the course of administration and dosage

Locally, externally.

The solution is prepared immediately before use. The contents of the bag are dissolved in 200 ml of hot water and the warm solution is used to rinse the mouth and oropharynx 2-3 times a day.

A solution of the drug is also used for washing wounds; after surgical treatment, it is applied directly on the wound surface, after which a sterile gauze bandage is applied, or on the dressing material, and then on the wound. Apply to the wound surface 2-3 times a day.

Overdosage

The drug has low toxicity. Cases of overdose are not described.
