Mechanism of action

Polygynax is an antimicrobial drug for topical use in gynecology. It has a bactericidal effect. Active against gram-positive microorganisms: Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium spp.; Gram-negative microorganisms: Enterococcus faecium, Enterobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Ureaplasma urealyticum. It has a fungicidal effect on pathogenic fungi, especially yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida albicans, Cryptococcus, Hystoplasma.
Improves trophic processes in the vaginal mucosa.

Evenly distributed on the mucous membrane of the vagina, providing a local bactericidal and fungicidal action. Practically not absorbed from the surface of the vaginal mucosa.

Indications and usage

Treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by susceptible microorganisms:
- non-specific vaginitis;
- fungal vaginitis;
- mixed vaginitis;
- vulvovaginitis;
- cervicovaginitis.
Prevention of infectious and inflammatory diseases:
- before surgical intervention in the genital area;
- before and after diathermocoagulation of the cervix;
- before intrauterine diagnostic procedures;
- before childbirth.

Dosage and administration

One capsule of Polygynax is inserted deep into the vagina in the evening before bedtime.
The course of treatment is 12 days. Preventive course - 6 days. If one or more doses are missed, treatment at the usual dose should be resumed.

Adverse reactions

Possible: allergic reactions. With prolonged use possible systemic manifestation of side effects of aminoglycosides.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The patient should be informed that it is not recommended to use the drug during pregnancy without consulting a doctor.
It is necessary to avoid the use of the drug during breastfeeding.

Terms of the drug should be limited to prevent the formation of resistance to it of individual pathogens and the risk of reinfection.
With prolonged use possible systemic manifestation of side effects of aminoglycosides, increasing in renal failure.
It is not recommended to use latex caps and condoms during treatment.
You should not interrupt the course of treatment during menstruation.
The patient should be informed that in case of development of renal failure should consult a doctor.

Drug Interactions

It is not recommended to use Polygynax simultaneously with spermicides, since may decrease the activity of the drug.

Storage conditions

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature not higher than 25 ° C.
