A perennial herbaceous plant of the Rosaceae family up to 30 cm in height. The rhizome is thick, woody, almost horizontal, red, yellowish-white inside. Stem thin, ascending, branched. The leaves are trifoliate, alternate, sessile; basal - three- and pyatipalchatye, with petiole. Blooms on the 5-7th year of life. It blooms from late May to October. Flowers solitary, yellow, located on long stalks. The fruit is a multi-nut splitting into separate nuts. It ripens in June - October.
Potentilla erect is common in the European part of Russia, in the Caucasus and in Western Siberia
It grows in wet meadows and in rare forests, in forest meadows, in clearings, wastelands and among shrubs.
Propagated by seeds and segments of rhizomes
The plant prefers acidic, humus-poor soil. Seeds are sown superficially in rows with a distance of 40-45 cm between them. Rhizomes are placed at the same distance. After sowing or planting the soil is watered and sprinkled with sod-humus mixture. During the growing season, plants are constantly watered and fed in the spring and in the middle of summer with a nitroammophoska, at the rate of 20-30 g per 1 m2. Seedlings begin to bloom in the 5th year of life. The annual growth of rhizomes is 3-15 g. Roots are harvested 4-5 years after sowing.
Medicinal raw materials are rhizomes
They are harvested in the fall, after the dying off of the aerial parts, or in the spring, when the first leaves appear. They dig up the raw material with a shovel, shake it off the ground, cut off the roots, wash it in running water, sow it a little outdoors and dry it on the veranda, attic or in the dryer at a temperature of 5 °... 6 ° C, spreading it out in a thin layer. The finished raw material should be dark brown in color, on a fracture - yellowish. Store in wooden containers or in bags for 4 years.
Rhizomes contain tannins, flavonoids, organic acids, resin, tormentillin glycoside, quinic and ellagic acids, flabofenes, gum, starch
The decoction has astringent, hemostatic, minor antimicrobial and deodorizing effect.
It is used for diarrhea, stomach and uterine bleeding.Outwardly used for rinsing the mouth and throat with sore throat and bleeding gums, as well as to stop bleeding from wounds, treatment of ulcers and various skin diseases.
To prepare the decoction, 1 tablespoon of rhizomes is poured with 1 cup of hot water, simmering for 30 minutes and immediately filtered.
Take on a tablespoon 4-5 times a day for 30 minutes before meals. To rinse the mouth broth is diluted with water 4 times. Use every 2 hours, periodically alternating with other disinfectants, such as decoction of burnet. Assign with t.rio-monadic inflammation of the vagina (douching) and hemorrhoids (microclysters at night)
