In the case of severe infections, 200 mg / day is prescribed for the entire period of treatment.
Children over 12 years old with body weight less than 50 kg on the first day of treatment, a daily dose is prescribed at the rate of 4 mg / kg in 1 dose, on the following days of treatment - 2 mg / kg 1 time / day. For severe infections, it is prescribed in a daily dose of 4 mg / kg during the entire course of treatment.
The duration of treatment is usually 5-10 days, in some cases, set individually.
With infections of the genitourinary system the dose is usually 200 mg / day for 7-10 days.
With gonorrhea women are prescribed 200 mg / day until they are completely cured (on average for 5 days); men are prescribed 200-300 mg / day in 1 dose for 2-4 days or for 1 day 300 mg 2 times / day (second dose 1 hour after the first).

With typhus fever administered once 100-200 mg (depending on the severity of the disease).
Individual dose selection may be necessary in elderly patients, as well as in disorders of the liver and kidneys (creatinine clearance less than 60 ml / min).
The drug is preferably taken with meals. The pill can be swallowed whole, divided into parts or chewed, washed down with a glass of water, and can also be diluted in water to form a syrup (in 20 ml) or a suspension (in 100 ml).
Adverse reactions
Gastrointestinal: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, dysphagia, glossitis, diarrhea, enterocolitis (due to proliferation of resistant strains of staphylococci).
Effects due to biological effects: candidiasis due to the proliferation of Candida albicans (manifested by diarrhea, glossitis, stomatitis, proctitis, vaginitis).
Dermatologic: maculo-papular and erythematous rash; rarely - exfoliative dermatitis, photosensitivity.
Allergic reactions: urticarial rash, angioedema, Anaphylactic reactions, pericarditis, exacerbation of systemic lupus erythematosus.
Hemic and lymphatic: hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, eosinophilia.
Contraindications
- II and III trimesters of pregnancy;
- children's age up to 8 years;
- Hypersensitivity to antibiotics of the tetracycline group.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Unidox Solutab is contraindicated for use in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy.
Doxycycline slows down osteogenesis, increases the fragility of the bones in the fetus, disrupts the normal development of the teeth (the color of the teeth changes irreversibly, the enamel hypoplasia develops).
If necessary, the use of the drug during lactation should decide on the interruption of breastfeeding. Doxycycline is determined in human milk in quantities that make up 30-40% of the value of its concentration in blood plasma.
Special notes
Unidox Solutab is prescribed to patients with severe hepatic impairment or with a combination of severe renal and hepatic insufficiency only if treatment with other drugs is not possible, while reducing the dose of the drug.
There is the possibility of cross-resistance with other antibiotics of the tetracycline group.
Prolonged use of the drug may cause hypovitaminosis due to the suppression of the growth of bacteria producing Vitamins of group B.
Overdosage
Symptoms: may increase the manifestations of the described side effects.
Treatment: gastric lavage; if necessary, conduct symptomatic therapy, prescribe Activated carbon and osmotic laxatives. Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis are not effective.
Drug Interactions
With simultaneous use with antibacterial drugs that are bactericidal (penicillins, cephalosporins), the clinical efficacy of the drug is reduced.
While taking antibiotics of the tetracycline group and medicines containing metal ions (antacids, iron salts), the effectiveness may decrease.
Antibiotics of the tetracycline group may enhance the effects of anticoagulants, and therefore may require correction of their dose.
With simultaneous use of oral contraceptives, estriol levels may decrease, resulting in bleeding; in rare cases, the contraceptive effect is reduced and pregnancy is possible.
T1/2 may decrease with the appointment of hepatic metabolism inducers (barbituric acid derivatives, Carbamazepine, ethanol, phenytoin).
Storage conditions
The drug should be stored at a temperature of 15 ° to 25 ° C.
