Active ingredient and dosage form
Tenox pills:
1 tab. contains Amlodipine (in the form of maleate) 5 and 10 mg;
Excipients: MCC; pregelatinized starch; sodium starch glycolate; silicon colloidal oxide anhydrous; Magnesium stearate;
in packing of 30 and 90 pieces.
Mechanism of action
Tenox has a hypotensive, antianginal effect.
Indications and usage
Arterial hypertension (monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs);
stable and vasospastic stenocardia (Prinzmetal's stenocardia).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to amlodipine and other dihydropyridine derivatives;
severe hypotension;
collapse;
cardiogenic shock;
pregnancy;
lactation period;
age up to 18 years (efficacy and safety have not been established).
Carefully:
abnormal liver function;
sick sinus syndrome (severe bradycardia, tachycardia);
decompensated chronic heart failure;
mild or moderate hypotension;
aortic stenosis;
mitral stenosis;
hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy;
acute myocardial infarction (and for 1 month after);
diabetes;
lipid profile disorder;
elderly age.
Dosage and administration
Tenox is taken orally.
In hypertension, the initial dose is 5 mg 1 time / day; maintenance - 2.5–5 mg / day; the maximum is 10 mg / day.
With angina pectoris and angiospastic angina pectoris, the drug is prescribed in a dose of 5–10 mg / day in a single dose.
Patients with reduced body weight or short stature, elderly people, in violation of liver function as a hypotensive agent, Tenox is prescribed in an initial dose of 2.5 mg, as an antiangial agent in a dose of 5 mg.
When using Tenox as part of combination therapy with thiazide diuretics, β-blockers and ACE inhibitors, dose adjustment is not required.
When prescribing the drug to patients with renal insufficiency, no changes in dosage regimen are required.
Adverse reactions
Since the cardiovascular system: heartbeat, shortness of breath, marked reduction in blood pressure, fainting, vasculitis, edema (swelling of the ankles and feet), flushing of the face, rarely - rhythm disturbances (bradycardia, ventricular tachycardia, atrial flutter), chest pain, orthostatic hypotension, very rarely - development or aggravation of heart failure, extrasystoles, migraine.
From the side of the central nervous system: headache, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, change in mood, convulsions; rarely - loss of consciousness, hypesthesia, nervousness, paresthesia, tremor, vertigo, asthenia, malaise, insomnia, depression, extraordinary dreams, very rarely - ataxia, apathy, agitation, amnesia.
Gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, rarely - increased levels of hepatic transaminases and jaundice (caused by cholestasis), pancreatitis, dry mouth, flatulence, gingival hyperplasia, constipation or diarrhea, very rarely - gastritis, increased appetite.
From the genitourinary system; rarely - pollakiuria, painful urge to urinate, nocturia, impaired sexual function (including reduced potency), very rarely - dysuria, polyuria.
From the skin: very rarely - xerodermia, alopecia, dermatitis, purpura, discoloration of the skin.
Allergic reactions: skin itch, rash (including erythematous, maculopapular rash, urticaria), angioedema.
Musculoskeletal system: rarely - arthralgia, arthrosis, myalgia with prolonged use, very rarely - myasthenia.
Other: rarely - gynecomastia, polyurikemia, weight gain / loss, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, hyperglycemia, blurred vision, conjunctivitis, diplopia, eye pain, tinnitus, back pain, dyspnea, epistaxis, increased sweating, thirst; very seldom - cold sticky sweat, cough, rhinitis, parosmia, disturbance of taste, disturbance of accommodation, xerophthalmia.
Special notes
During the period of treatment with Tenox, control over body weight and sodium consumption is necessary, and the appointment of an appropriate diet. It is necessary to maintain dental hygiene and frequent visits to the dentist (preventing soreness, bleeding and gum overgrowth). Elderly patients may prolong the half-life and clearance of the drug.Dosing regimen for the elderly is the same as for patients of other age groups. Increasing the dose requires careful monitoring of elderly patients.
